Perhaps he was asked to join, this seems like it was from an event.

It's good that he's back but is he really Satoshi though?
From what I remember, he denied all claims that he was Satoshi and filed a lawsuit to that media who made a false report about him. Pretty sure you guys would know too because it wasn't that too long ago.

Ironically, I just read about Augur upon stumbling upon it the other day here: http://www.coindesk.com/ethereum-bitcoin-mainstream-microtransactions/

Quote
Of course, Ethereum and bitcoin are different beasts. Ethereum is branded as "the world computer", and is often associated with the ambitious goal of enabling the "total decentralization" of the Internet. It’s a flexible system that supports smart contracts and a range of experimental, decentralized applications, including an uncensorable Twitter and Augur, a project that wants to decentralize prediction markets.

Click bait .... Dorian is riding the wave, and he thoroughly deserve it, because of the way the media handled his situation. They can sometimes be like Vultures around a carcass. Even if he did not turn

out to be the Real Satoshi Nakamoto, it would still have been a story to tell and a experience to share. What happened with the money that were collected for him... was there a formal handover? I

missed out a lot, when I were in hospital ...still catching up.  ::)

His full name is: Dorian Prentice Satoshi Nakamoto, birth name: Satoshi Nakamoto. So yes, you could say that his is Satoshi, but not the kind of Satoshi bitcoin crowd expect him to be.
Even though he is most likely not creator of BTC since that time his become somewhat 'face of Satoshi' and bitcoin mascot. He is very popular and often invited to bitcoin conferences and events like this.

I noticed he wears the Augur T shirt. Is he a support for Augur?

I just hope Dorian is having fun with it and enjoying his status as a sort of bitcoin mascot, after the rude introduction to bitcoin he got thanks to that awful Newsweek article.

Should be titled " Nakamoto is Back" since he is not satoshi but he is nakamoto, that would make it sound better and would actually be true.

Title of this thread might be seems like a pure 'clickbait' but it is technically correct.
I guess you didn't read this thread, couple posts above there is a  full explanation about his name. He is indeed Satoshi Nakamoto.

Looks like he is being used for marketing purposes.

The whole satoshi hunt made him incredibly famous and also googling satoshi returns many hits of him. Wouldn't surprise me if this was a marketing stunt.

He is probably making a pretty penny from the whole satoshi thing :D

No he is Dorian Nakamoto, and he is not satoshi (the inventor of bitcoin).

So only the Nakamoto surname matches, but he is definitely not satoshi.

But I agree its a lousy clickbait.

He may be indeed Satoshi Nakamoto by name, if thats what ure saying, but he's not THE Satoshi Nakamoto (creator of bitcoin) which this title tends for readers to asume.
The only reason why people know about him is just to get some money out of publicity imho.

Dorian is such a cool guy. I will never forget the video Andreas made with him where he thanked the Bitcoin community for it's support after all this media harassment.
Andreas led a fundraising campaign for Dorian Nakamoto that raised over 47 bitcoins!Hope he stills hold them. :)

From thinking that this Bitcoin stuff is no fun at all after falling upon him, refusing to be associated with anything Bitcoin related to being some kind of "meme" within the community and enjoying such status? Wow, some things do take a wild turn...

Can't blame him for "cashing in" on easy, legit money, I guess.

It's really funny how this guy is turning his initial victim position into a winning streak... After all he has become a well-known celebrity in the Bitcoin sphere. He has a somehow unique appearance and personality that was the precondition of him becoming that famous. I think it's not a bad thing that he uses his status to get some coins. From what we know, he is not rich and had quite a few hard times in his life.

What I really like is that he is connecting with young people and is apparently enjoying it. So Bitcoin had definitely a positive impact on his life.

ya.ya.yo!

It's just pretty smart of him to turn this whole ordeal with the media into something that's beneficial for him.
Can't say that I blame the guy for getting some profit out of it :)

And great that the community helped him in such a way, he seemed genuinly thankful in the video.
He'll probably stay a dedicated promotor of Bitcoin, otherwise he wouldn't be in the picture
