Title: Would you shoot Bigfoot?
Post by: otrkid70 on June 01, 2016, 11:52:39 PM
The Question has been asked for all....              would you shoot Bigfoot?

http://www.scout.com/outdoors/hunting/story/1672992-would-you-shoot-a-bigfoot-04151603

The Question is more poised toward hunters who spend alot of time in the woods. I think if you ask a hunter they will say yes to sport a prize like the trash they are.

For all you you scumbags that say yes.....This is what is wrong with society today

Why is this Question even asked? Do we not kill enough?

1) Is this a life or death scenario for me?
2) what type of weapon would I be using?
3) Is there a Bitcoin reward involved?
4) Has anyone tasted Bigfoot tenderloin?

Couldn't care less what you think about me, I would shoot the big hairy thing.

It would probably look good skinned and used as a nice rug on my floor  :P

2) what type of weapon would I be using?
4) Has anyone tasted Bigfoot tenderloin?

1) Im guessing OP means a gun, i think a 308 would be good enough.
2) Good question, :D

You are the decay of modern society.   A rug on your floor? You are interested in the trophy then.

there will come a day when you reflect on life and you will have to answer the Question.... WHY.

You are irrelevant in the life cycle.

1.) No....you just see him walking

2.) Any gun.

3.) No

4.) I'm sure they have.......(Redneck American hunters thinking it was a bear)

Do you shoot?

 ;)  I figured a gun but I guess I should have clarified.
If I was out hunting pheasant with my .22 when I came across a bigfoot, I definitely would not shoot as I am quite sure it would only piss him off.  The 308 might be enough but I think I'd want to have somebody backing me up with a .338 magnum just in case.  Legend has it that these things will tangle with grizzlies.

Yes I shoot.  Skeet, trap and target.

Yeah I wouldn't want to deal with Bigfoot after shooting him with a .22, probably be nothing more than a bee sting to him.
I think a 303 with hollow points would knock him down but if you don't care about the trophy then a shotgun loaded with SG cartridges would put a nice hole through the beast.

Hunting for sport and hunting for food are two different things and it's unfair to lump every hunter in the same category.

That's like saying everyone who uses Bitcoin is a drug dealing pedophile.

H@ll no, I would not shoot something I thought was BigFoot.

What if I were wrong?  What if I were right?

I'd take a digital image & run for my life.

Agree with others here.

Way too much shooting going on.

Sad about that silverback gorilla Harambe shot at the Cincinnati Zoo.

Turns out he was trying to protect the kid who fell in:  http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/world-news/astonishing-new-footage-shows-gorilla-8082168

So you never know....

Great point and you are right!

Here is another scenario:  Since Bigfoot seems to be some sort of Human type creature would you be charged with Murder if you shot him and Scientist proved he was indeed Human?

Now would you risk shooting him?

If bigfoot tries to eat me, then ya I'd shoot him.  If he wants to kick back and have a few beers, probably not.  :)

I'd shoot Big Foot. With a Nikon F6. Or most probably a D5. That's 35mm.

Then I'd sell it to National Geographic.

But I can't even afford a D3300 so ...

Have you guys seen The Revenant? There was a bear scene there. If you are hunting Big Foot, bring a large knife, because your gun will run out of bullets.

Killing an intelligent being like that is murder. I truly believe they exist and are simply hiding from the crazies (us).

Speaking of Bigfoot, one of my favorite movies is "Strange Wilderness."  They search for Bigfoot all movie long and finally find him hiding in a cave at the end of the movie and machine gun his ass to death.  Then they try and make it seem like a suicide.  Hilarious  ;D

The rifle used in The Revenant was a one shot black powder muzzleloader. You understand that technology has changed a bit since those were the "latest and greatest", right? ;)

Only in self-defense. I wouldn't kill any animal just for the fun of it like some people. Honestly I don't even understand why people love doing this kind of "sport".

The kill is only a small part of hunting. Most of the sport is about the hunt, thats why they call it "hunting" and not simply "killing"
Any animal I kill I eat, apart from Bigfoot I am not interested in killing an animal for the trophy but I don't criticized anyone who does as long as they don't waste the meat.

I don't agree with the guys that go to places like Africa to shoot endangered animals like lions and elephants, there really is no need for that and I would truly love to shoot an ivory poacher, those guys give all hunters a bad name.

I understand. I simply forgot about that part. I do prefer "smokeless" powder and have experience with modern rifles. For the M-16 I ranked "Sharpshooter" with the Philippine Marines, although everyone I know has an M-4. The civilians call them AR-15s. :) Semi-automatics.

As with anything like that, be sure to pack extra magazines. The pistol would be your backup. And the knife would be the backup to your pistol. If you have to resort to unarmed combat, you've probably already lost. If you're carrying only small arms, pack two, but still have a knife.

In NPEs, I have sharpened pencils, but then I'm running away if I ever see Bigfoot.

Do you know what you're missing? Are you a pure vegetarian or vegan? Do you eat milk or eggs or what other classifications are there? (Not picking a fight here, just curious.)

Dunno what I am missing, it would be great if you can shed some light on this. I consider myself as a lactovegetarian, I consume no meat including seafood but eggs. I might become a vegan someday, it's just that I don't have a solid plan for that yet. You know the hard thing about me being a vegetarian is, I don't know if I eat healthily, I definitely need to see a nutritionist to fix my broken diet.

Well, there's a lot of protein that can not be gotten from plants alone. And us humans are meant to be meat eaters. It's an almost religious debate, so I'm not going to start one, I won't be dragged into one, and if you want to be vegetarian that's your right.

I may not agree with what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.

I mean, sure, there are examples of vegan body builders (some are even celebrities), but they are rare. It's much easier to eat steak and eggs and milk then squat, jump, run, lift, bench press or whatever exercise you prefer.

I think Steve Jobs died because of his diet. (I read he only ate fish or something like that.) But that is just an opinion, I'm not going to waste time debating about it. Yeah, I know, fishermen eat their catch, but they routinely trade for chicken and beef or whatever.

I much prefer Sting's diet; he has a private chef and has free range animals or his own farm, organic and all that.

When I'm rich and can actually afford to do it, I'm going back to the old "Anabolic Diet" which is similar to Atkin's and other Low-Carb versions, or you might have heard the word Paleo or the concept of the Hunter-Gatherer. You might want to also check out the Gracie diet (the one practiced by the Brazilian mixed martial arts family), although I don't subscribe to it one hundred percent.

Also, I'm biased against nutritionists. They really need to set the example. Most medical doctors in the past two or three decades don't get much "nutrition" subjects in their formal schooling. Some know that they don't know.

Man (and woman) was meant to be strong. Literally, we evolved from some sort of "survival of the fittest" kind of thing, but then we had the help of brains, and tools. We are the dominant species on this planet, for good reason, but as we are approaching and exceeding 8~9 billion people, there will be some who ... want to try to see if they will survive a generation or two of being vegetarians or vegans, inevitably their offspring (if they have any) become meat eaters. Otherwise you'll be the last of your bloodline.

In any group, there will be rotten eggs. In a population of a hundred people, there's one or two that are complete idiots. So with 7 billion people, I estimate at least 70 million. That's just how life is. A sucker is born every minute. There's rich, there's poor, there's smart and intelligent, and there's the mentally challenged. It's not politically correct (what does that mean anyway?) ...

Grains, vegetables, ... plant farming and agriculture was an invention only in the last 10,000 years. It's a way to sustain the poor. Admittedly, I consider myself not yet rich enough. We can not afford to feed everyone meat. The elite know that. I'm from an Asian country. A lot of Asians eat rice, fruits and vegetables, not because it's healthy, but because that's what we can afford. It's not discrimination, not because I belong to the same category, but that is reality.

Currently, I'm on a "See Food Diet" ... When I See Food, I eat. If you do the same, don't forget to squat with a barbell with two and a half times your body weight. And while you can be an expert in unarmed combat, be smart and bring a tool with you (I mean a knife or a gun, whatever is legal where you live.)

Canadians lock their doors now. ;)

Back to the original topic, I would not shoot Bigfoot, because I won't eat him. Not my type of meat. I like the grass fed type. I don't know if Bigfoot is vegan or not, besides he might be endangered if not extinct.

If Bigfoot is vegetarian, there is no need to shoot  or kill him...or her.

Curious about vegetarian / vegan diet & lifestyle?  I've been at it for 40 years.
