RIP Ali. What a boxer and fighter!!

He was great man not primarily because of his success in sport but because he was the voice of the oppressed, disenfranchised, black America and he was not afraid to say what he thinks publicly.
He did a lot for human rights and and freedom of the black community in America.
This is, in my opinion, his greatest accomplishment.
Everything else is less important.

I do not know a lot about Mohamed Ali but it seems he was a great man because people around the world loves him and a lot of people are sad about his death. May Allah have mercy on him

I don't really applaud his conversion to Islam. The reasons for his conversion, as claimed by him were laughable. He claimed that he was a victim of racism and xenophobia. Then what he is going to achieve by converting to Islam, another religion where racism is quite prevalent? The Arab Muslims and the Turkish Muslims are some of the most racist people on the earth.

I have to say that the news of his death really shocked me not so much because he is a legend but because up to that point I had been under the impression that he was long dead. I don't know why but I always thought he died in the eighties. I don't read much news other than tech and science and I very rarely watch TV but it's still pretty amazing that in all those years I'd never come across anything to do with him alive  :o He was a great boxer.

Many people in our country adore Mohammad Ali as a gentle and intelligent man. My old pops once told me that Ali was really unbelievable. His fight in Manila with Joe Frazier called "Thrilla in Manila" became one of the historic events that happened in our country. It was just sad that he got a chronic disease and have struggled for a long time. RIP Mohammed Ali .

He was much more than a gentle and intelligent man or great sportsman. His actions changed the world a lot. He didn't want to go to Vietnam, to war and lost his champion title and a lot money, because of this decision. He converted to Muslim and teach young blacks in his country about integrity, self-respect, real purpose of life etc.
He really changed lives of many people and because of this he was great man.

Are you kidding? Mohammed Ali is the reason the draft got abolished in the USA. He took the US govt to court when they tried to draft him for Vietnam, and spent some time in jail as the case went through all the district courts - but it reached the Supreme Court which ruled that it was illegal to draft someone in peacetime (Congress had not declared war on Vietnam).

Ali was freed, and shortly afterwards the US govt abolished conscription and switched to a volunteer army.

So the reason you haven't been drafted to serve in Afghanistan is because Mohammed Ali won a landmark Supreme Court case. You probably owe your life to him.

I have read articles about him because of curiosity.  Because of that I salute him for all his good deeds, he is not just a boxing legend but a legend of good heart.  He inspired many people in different ways and you will notice it in how many people lamented when he passed away.
