The faithful are expected to spend the month fasting during daylight hours, eschewing even water, and spending more time in prayer and study of the Quran. They are supposed to avoid bad habits and indulgences, such as smoking and sex. Cultural differences and even geography have led to differences in the ways Muslims observe the holy month. Fasting during daylight hours has proven difficult for people living near polar regions during the long days of the summer. When they got home they tell the parents they had nowt :D :D.. They said how hard it was to fast..WHY starve yourself why not just give money to the poor.. You starve yourself so you know how the poor feel.. No need to do this just look at the poor and give them money.. But i suppose if your rich then maybe it would make you understand more what the poor feel if you never been poor yourself.. Also if your already poor and are a Muslim what's the point in doing this action..There already starving for a life.. I hadn't thought about that, but it seems fair that they can eat at some point. Rather than being arbitrary they could standardize it to 16h of fasting, with 8h rest, or just say everyone follows Mecca's time. I guess when the rules were made, they hadn't really considered the future generations living near the poles! Well, since they are praying and studying the Quran would be good to stop their terrorist attacks. Stereotyping hurts the economy and is just what the establishment needs to sustain the military industrial complex. Non-interventionism and tolerance spares us from bigotry and unnecessary warfare. The Middle East is none of our business, and the majority of terrorists are not Muslims. |
