Title: Crypto Portfolio: tracking your bitcoin and altcoin addresses
Post by: borntorun on June 06, 2016, 08:55:55 AM
Cryptocoin Portfolio

Cryptocoin Portfolio is a simple mobile application which shows the total value and the structure of a portfolio made up with a number of different cryptocoin addresses.

How it works?

The app just gets the current balance of the addresses from blockchains, then the prices of the given cryptocurrencies from coinmarketcap's api and calculate the value of the address like this: address value = address balance x cryptocoin value (in usd and btc). Then summing up together all the address values to get the total portfolio value in both USD and BTC.

Coins supported: Bitcoin, Dogecoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, Ethereum, Ripple, Counterparty, Dash, Peercoin, Reddcoin. We will add more at subsequent updates.

Currently available on Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ionicframework.crypto569321

More details: http://sigmagfx.com/crypto/

Let me know if you have any feedback or idea on what other functionality should we add.

Nice, i've been looking for something like this. Kind of looking for ios though as well, but I know apple is pretty strict on apps.

Do you work for the CIA or the taxman?

I don't like to be tracked, and I don't know anyone in the BTC world who enjoys it. Sorry but I don't need nor want anything else than a BTC client. And I also have online wallets with no transactions between them so that no one can find out how much I have. That's nice.

The app gets only the balances and calculates the value based on exchange rates, not tracking transfers. Just a little tool to see the total value of all of your coins or other random public addresses of your choice. They not have to be yours, as you can see in the screenshot above, I'm not owning that portfolio. :)

Basically you have provided very less information about how the app works or what exactly it is ? Clear a few doubts for me please.

>Do is includes a block explorer too ?
It doesn't include blockchain explorer, just reading from already available blockchain explorers.

>Is there a way to scan the addresses ?
What do you mean by scanning an address? The app just gets the current balance of the addresses from blockchains.

>How are you calculating the portfolio value ? Taking averages ?
After getting the balances of the addresses, It reads the prices of the given cryptocurrency from coinmarketcap's api and calculate the value of the address like this: address value = address balance x cryptocoin value (in usd and btc). Then summing up together all the address values to get the total portfolio value in both USD and BTC.

>What's the purpose of the project ?
I just wanted this simple thing to get all the current data from publicly available API-s and calculate all the values. I saw somewhat similar services, but you would had to introduce the balances, prices and eventual changes in both manually. This app do it automatically.

Unfortunately it is not (yet) available for iOS. I would like to try it because I urgently need an alternative.
I currently use CoinCap app from Shapeshift to keep track of my portfolio. But the app always crashes when I type in a comma instead of a dot. So I can only track my portfolio of full units for example 1 BTC or 2 BTC but not 1.44 BTC or 2.85. This is really annoying.
I watch this thread and hope you will release a iOS version soon.
