Title: Newbie questions for Litecoin
Post by: Radacoin on March 07, 2013, 10:28:30 AM
I am pretty familiar with BTC, but new to Litecoin.

Question: Do I setup Litecoin the same way as Bitcoin? E.g. bitcoin.conf -> litecoin.conf ?

Is there a litecoind like there's a bitcoind? If so, is litecoind just a modified version of bitcoind?

Is the protocol to sync/distribute blocks for Litecoin the same as for Bitcoin?

1- Yup, the same way

2- Yup, there's a daemon like bitcoin

3- Yup, the port and the amount of blocks generated are different only, AFAIK

how do i set up the wallet to solo mine?

Solo mining today on LTC isn't a smart idea...
Try another small cryto-currency like BQC if you want make that only for experience(ppl will help you out of how you make the server/daemon run and how to configure your miner, BQC is Scrypt based as well), for getting real money try pooled mining like coinotron, poll-x, etc.

What's the advantage of BQC over LTC? Are there any markets and charts for BQC network?

The advantage is, that there are no exchanges to date  ;D

If you want to solo mine something you can sell, than you should look at TRC
