Title: Logic Supply Package - Potential for Mining Alts / Running Storj
Post by: ABISprotocol on June 09, 2016, 04:04:47 AM
Has anyone tried using this? http://www.logicsupply.com/mc500-30/ Or similar from Logic Supply?  (I don't have any connection to the company, but I recently checked out their site and found the configurations interesting.)

I found it interesting how they made it easy for you to configure (select your processor, CPU cooler, etc., under "show more configuration options," you can also select to have one of different mounting options, and if you want, Ubuntu 14.04 LTS 64-bit or Ubuntu 16.04 LTS 64-bit preinstalled).

Thought it might be worthwhile to connect and run for the purpose of either just using Minergate which allows you to mine for various things, or using miner directly from a cryptocurrency wallet (such as BCN's GUI wallet which allows you to mine directly from the wallet for example), and / or using StorJ on it (earning money by sharing extra drive space).

Power-wise, in terms of energy efficiency, this would be even more ideal if you have a bank of solar panels (or plan on adding them in the near future).

Thoughts / other suggestions for similar companies that have configurable, "ready-to-go" packages like this?

I'm pretty sure you can beat their prices very easily by shopping Newegg - but those "tiny" machines tend to be not good miners, NO option to add a real GPU and the cooling tends to be VERY iffy for 24/7 operation.

The down side of pretty much ANY "ready to go" package is that it tends to charge a premium for being "ready to go".
