Title: BIPS.me – Free Merchant Solutions and Mobile eWallet - 45 Supported Currencies
Post by: bittenbob on March 08, 2013, 12:53:56 PM
Bitcoin Internet Payment System (BIPS), the free Bitcoin service, has just launched. BIPS unleashes the full power of Bitcoin - making merchant processing fees a thing of the past and giving traditional payment processors a run for their money.  Created for merchants and end users alike, the Bitcoin world will never be the same. Based out of Denmark, BIPS is brought to you by the same team as WalletBit - a name you can trust. Visit https://bips.me and get started today.

Users have the option of signing up using an existing Facebook, Twitter or Google account. This means you won't have to remember another password unless you want to. For those of you who like to do things the old fashioned way, we have a traditional sign up method.

Our free eWallet service is the most secure in existence today. When you sign up for a BIPS account your password is stored as a heavily salted SHA-512 hash. This means your BIPS password is more secure than most banking sites. BIPS also enables you to add up to three factors of authentication to prevent unauthorized access to your account. This includes Secure Card technology pioneered by WalletBit and Google Authenticator.

BIPS is the first major Bitcoin gateway to offer merchant tools completely for free. As long as you keep your balance as Bitcoins then you pay zero processing fees. You only have to pay if you want to cash out to your local currency.

BIPS gives you the option to automatically convert some of or all the Bitcoins coming into your account to your local currency. Any automatic conversion to local currency at the time of purchase is guaranteed at the rate it was processed for. This means you can accept Bitcoins without worrying about exchange rates.

Transfers between BIPS accounts are instant and free. The only thing you will ever be asked to pay for are our premium services such as buying, selling and cold storage. BIPS offers the most affordable Bitcoin selling rates ever offered globally. With 42 different local currency options (https://bips.me/pricing) BIPS offers the most cash out options anywhere. This includes daily domestic transfers to both Canada and Denmark.

BIPS combines years of Bitcoin processing experience to create the ultimate Bitcoin website. Best of all BIPS is free. Simply put, BIPS is the last Bitcoin website you will ever need.

Wow 42 different countries supported!  I wish the list had country names on it, or a map, because I don't know a lot of those flags.

Thank you for pointing this out. We will add a text listing shortly. In the meantime the 42 supported currencies are the same as WalletBit. If you visit WalletBit's pricing page you can select a drop down menu of all available currencies.

This will be possible when we launch our BIPS subscription button during the next week. You can create invoices right now using our REST API but the subscription button will be better suited to your needs.

One thing not mentioned above is that BIPS is mobile optimized. This means you don't need an app to get the most out of BIPS. With Opera on Android there is even in-browser QR scanning. Here are some pictures of BIPS in action. As with all BIPS basic Bitcoin services there are no fees.

BIPS proudly presents it's latest unique security feature - IP Guard. BIPS keeps a log of every IP address used to sign into your account and now so can you. If you notice a suspicious IP address has logged into your account, you can block that IP address from ever accessing your account again. IP Guard is located under the Account -> IP Guard menu.

Even with the protection of IP Guard, BIPS strongly recommends enabling Secure Card and Google Authenticator from the Account menu.

Why doesn't every site offer this?

IP Guard is now complete with the ability to lock your account to a single IP address. Please make sure you have a static IP if you are going to use this feature.

If money was paid on an Avalon invoice then it went to Avalon. If your ticket status is open on our support system then it is still being addressed. We do not answer questions that involve personal details over the forums for privacy concerns. This includes any questions relating to purchases. If you have questions about an Avalon order, please contact Avalon and/or wait for your WalletBit ticket to be addressed. We update all tickets as soon as information becomes available.

Regards,
WalletBit/BIPS

For Canadian users and businesses trying to add a direct deposit withdraw option, our website has been updated for clarity. To buy and sell you will need a government issued photo ID and one bill at your current address.

The information required for direct deposit within Canada is:

Financial Institution Number: (ex. 001)
Transit Number: (5 digit transit number)
Account Number: (self explanatory)

For those of you who don't feel comfortable giving your banking information we also offer Interac email transfers. Payouts within Canada are usually processed the same day.

If you are one of our many users, you may have noticed several changes to BIPS over the past few days. We have been working hard to improve customer satisfaction. Our first major announcement is that we have expanded our support staff by 2 additional team members. You can expect much faster response times from both of our support desks at WalletBit and BIPS. In order to ensure customer satisfaction BIPS will continue to expand to suit your needs.

Our second major announcement is that we are merging the WalletBit and BIPS support desks into one. This will reduce redundancies and make it easier for our support staff to answer your questions in a timely manner. Until now both website have been operating their own support software. Combining them into a single support desk will improve response times and save resources.

Our third and final major change to announce is that BIPS has just finished implementing a new price algorithm. This has significantly improved our buy/sell margin. You will notice it is more dynamic, changing more frequently to ensure you receive the best rates.

BIPS is here to serve you. If you have any suggestions for improvements or general comments please contact our support team. We take every suggestion into consideration and your suggestion just might be our next new feature.

BIPS does not currently let the user select a network fee for simplicity. This option is still available at WalletBit but we thought it might be confusing for new users at BIPS.

Hello,

Your service seems to be very good but I have a few question.

I've clicked on the Contact section in order to contact you guys. Then I see this:

If you do a reverse search on Desiree Moore

Results:

And the big irony is this:

It's the same lady that WalletBit uses !! :)

Obviously you're using fake pictures from a stock website.

I wonder what is your objective with this.

Best regards,

Liberty Reserve and EgoPay payment options have just been added to BIPS. Both can be used to buy and sell Bitcoins faster and more conveniently. It also means less bank fees and shorter waiting periods for many international customers.

Canadian BIPS customers also woke up to a surprise today; Free direct deposits when receiving $100 or more. Business and personal customers alike are eligible to take advantage of this offer and to help put an end to merchant fees.

BIPS empowers even the smallest merchant to securely accept payments for their products and services anywhere in the world – for free. This includes our new Liberty Reserve and EgoPay options which are provided at no additional costs. In doing so, BIPS helps to unlock the full potential of Bitcoin. BIPS is committed to ending merchant processing fees to help your business succeed.

I added support today to keep track of your BIPS wallet balances (BTC and USD) to CryptFolio (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=192423.msg2108084#msg2108084).

Thanks for adding GetBalance API support! It was a bit awkward to use because the API documentation wasn't very clear, but here's some sample PHP code for actually using a GetBalance API key: http://code.google.com/p/openclerk/source/browse/trunk/jobs/bips.php

[edit] This post now contains my whole experience with bips so far.

Im a merchant using bips and their payment module for my web shop. After using their payment module for a while I started wondering why the incoming amounts and my account balance did not add up to exactly the same amount. My initial ticket took quite long to get a response so I did the usual and made the matter public. Something I do not regret btw.

The following is my conclution:
For a merchant who that wishes to keep the incoming funds in bitcoin using bips's payment module is free. The setup to achieve this is: behind the merchant link (in your account) uncheck tick box "customer pays conversion" and set "when sales are made keep x% of bitcoin in my account to the obvious 100%.
Bips will charge you the network fees on outgoing bitcoin transactions on your account. They are not visible in the "ledger" when you log in, but rather behind the importable versions.

It's clear BIPS's customer service could of have been swifter and documentation more clear. But I have to conclude they are not in any way stealing from me as I initially feared. I will continue using them and would recomend their service to others too.

TLDR; Op was concerned BIPS was stealing from him, this is not the case.

yeah, I just did a small test tx after opening an account there and the balance was less than the amount of btc I sent them...something weird is up, either its bugged or they are lying about their 0 fees

if you look at the HTML report of your tx, you will see a column saying 'fee' on receiving tx, that appears to be the amount you are short when they are added up.

Its a shame too cuz I really liked their mobile / POS checkout design.

BIPS charges a 2.5% fee on the consumer side. I was told this in person; it caught me by surprise too, as I had thought their whole 0% deal was some kind of loss leader.

Clarification: the mis-charges were an error. BIPS charges a 0% fee for BTC-to-BTC transfer, and charges 2.5% if you convert the bitcoins to fiat through their service in the form of its below-market exchange rate. Optionally, merchants can check a checkbox (visible only when you have a verified bank account) to take on the fee themselves, in which case they can sell at full price.

Post by: Kris on June 10, 2013, 01:48:30 AM
Send Bitcoin is a bookmarklet and now also add-ons for both Firefox and Chrome: a little app that runs in your browser and allows you to send bitcoins.

With these add-ons, you can access your BIPS Send Bitcoin tool on any site. It will handle Bitcoin URI protocol and open Send Bitcoin when clicking on any link which uses the Bitcoin URI protocol.

How to send bitcoin

The BIPS 'Send Bitcoin' button is the primary tool for sending Bitcoin from your BIPS wallet. It enables in browser QR code scanning via the 'Send Bitcoin' button.

Add the 'Send Bitcoin' link to your favorites toolbar or install our add-on for Firefox and Chrome. This will give you access to your Send Bitcoin command on any website accepting bitcoins.
Visit a website that accepts BTC as a payment.
Select the 'Send Bitcoin' link from your toolbar.
BIPS 'Send Bitcoin' interface should automatically pick up the receiving address and amount to send.
Click 'Send' to send your payment.

Be careful using BIPS. They are currently holding several hundred dollars worth of bitcoin of mine. I had an order come in, it has been status 'Green indicates complete payment with Instant Payment Notification sent.' for 3 hours now and BIPS has yet to redirect the coin to the wallet I entered and set 100% to move to.

I have had orders go through them in the past and had the coins in a wallet of my control in less than an hour every time, now they appear to be keeping my bitcoin from a rather large order... they have not replied to my ticket at all.

Edit: update, they paid me several hours after this post, they were doing some work (upgrades) to their system and had manually stopped payments while doing it.
