Title: Power supply for 6x R9 390 Post by: blg42598 on June 14, 2016, 03:48:36 PM How much power would all those draw mining? I might have a mix between R9 390 and one or two 390x.

Actually you will need at least 2 PSUs since there are no single PSU out there with 12 PCIe connectors. Title: Re: Power supply for 6x R9 390 Post by: bathrobehero on June 14, 2016, 04:31:35 PM EVGA Supernova G2 1300W has 6 VGA aux power slots and if you buy additional cables you can get 6 times 8 + 6+2 cables. But 1300W is really pushing it and you won't get those cables by default.
Getting two power supplies is probably your best bet. Title: Re: Power supply for 6x R9 390 Post by: Kellor on June 14, 2016, 06:28:04 PM For the 390, if you use -100mV, 1060/1125 MHz, it will consume about 220-240W each. If you use 970/1000, -200 mV, it will consume 160-170 W each.

I'll wait and try to buy around ten R9 480s if they are $200 a piece. Does anyone know if there will be preorders? That is quite handy for miners. Title: Re: Power supply for 6x R9 390 Post by: atp1916 on June 15, 2016, 10:41:05 AM From my mining experience, a 290 (and a 390) can easily push 250w+ if you're @stock volts/clocks.
Put 6 of them into a rig with minimal voltage / clock tuning and you'll be looking at a 1500w pull real fast. The 2x Antec HCP 1000w suggestion is a good one. I went with Silverstone 1500w units, which performed very well given the environment. You need to connect only grounds. But they already are connected via mains ground.
