Not for reasons of profit, I'm just interested in the technology. I think the blockchain has about 72 gb at the moment. So I am wondering, how long does the initial synchronization of a bitcoin core clinet take at the moment? Days? Weeks? Even longer? Even longer? it depends on your internet speed and also your hard disk speed for example if you have an SDD hard disk it would be so much faster. so it can be even a couple of days. also if you can't handle it, take a look at prune mode. It depends on a couple of factors, each one can be a bottleneck: - internet speed - bandwith usage - memory, cpu, HD speed For your information: my dedicated box with 4 XEON's, 16GB ram and 15k rpm disks takes about 24 hours to fully sync (if i remember correctly, it has been at least 6 months).
