Title: Could Stephen Wolfram (from Wolfram Research) be Satoshi?
Post by: remotemass on March 10, 2013, 12:22:55 AM
Is Stephen Wolfram, founder of Wolfram Research that develops Mathematica, a good candidate for being Satoshi? Has he been ruled out in any way?

Considering the size of Stephen's ego, I highly doubt he would ever use a pseudonym.

He would have written a book on Bitcoin if he was the author.

Not a bad guess.  Bitcoin is a great first step in the production of a genuine distributed knowledge engine.  Personally, I have a difficult time wrapping my head around the question of who could be Satoshi, mostly because I doubt it would be anyone even remotely well-known.  And also because I am convinced it is more than one person.

What made you think that he could be the one? why not Stephen Hawking or may be Stephen Colbert?

What is your fascination with Satoshi?? Every week someone searches for him, you want to know what he thinks on imporant concepts, etc... This is like religious thinking, you are making an idol for yourself.
The guy made it clear he does not want that alias to be involved with bitcoin anymore, can't you understand that?
And you will never reliably find him, there will always be enough plausible deniability for him to say it's not him even if you'll find the right guy... What is the point?? Grow up people...

I doubt it. I have been around wolfram alpha since before the launch and I have two friends that worked there. They have no clue about bitcoin. I have requested many times that they include bitcoin data in their options and each time they respond with a WTF is bitcoin email .

For those unfamiliar with it...

...is an awesome computational engine that uses trusted data from the internet. Just ask it "What was the weather in Dayton Ohio on Obama's birthday?". Wow!
