Title: Oldtimers, how does this rally make you feel?
Post by: European Central Bank on June 16, 2016, 07:54:24 PM
I'm very curious to hear from the people who went through 2013 and previous big ass rises what they feel about the current situation.

Did the subsequent falls harden your emotions to moments like now or are you freshly caught up in it all? Are you sitting back and waiting for it all to deflate or do you think something genuinely volcanic is stirring?

Give us your thoughts.

I was very very excited during the November rally 2013 but I didn't hold many bitcoins then and knew nothing about willybot or much about Bitcoin at all. I do remember the price going back down and at the bottom buying them all up knowing this thing is not finished.

I am slightly concerned about the fast increase this time round but I feel different about it this time. A big correction would not surprise me at all. It's coming.

When it happens there will be some new people who will get very despondent.

Long term, we will all do very well.

I think I just barely qualify.

I'm very slightly enthused, but mostly bored. This is just the start, and may still turn out to be a false rally.

Like last time I'm feeling sexy!

Last time I started making BTC right before the rise, now I started again and I have a feeling of a deja-vu, but this time I won't stope! This being said I would say BTC will rise as long as I stay with it!

Feeling very relaxed and ready for whatever will happen. Definitely an effect of living through the two previous bullruns. I'll send some coins over to bitstamp, just in case things explode.

Numb. I was over the moon the last time it was this high. This time it's all spreadsheets, rebalancing and exponential trends. More to come, I suspect, 2-3k, but who the fuck knows, right?

As with 2013, my work productivity is inversely correlated to the charts.

Excited, but no where near as much as during "the big rally".
Part of that was the surprise. No one really expected bitcoin to go to $1,200 anytime soon. This time, I feel BTC is still undervalued and is just starting to catch up to where it should be. I might be ecstatic again if I see another big bubble ($5,000+?).

By 2013 was used to crashes. The 2010 crash was new and unnerving, but after than I learned to look at facts rather than emotion. I think this is just the start.

Bitcoin's price goes up and down all the time, I'm expecting the price to fall again but I'm not confident enough to short bitcoin. After all, something new to most people is coming, the halving. Everyone awaits it to see what will happen, even pessimists.

Yes been through it all before, I think we are still in the preliminaries. But starting to check bitcoin price a little bit more frequently again I admit

All the above.

Also curious, mad (I didn't buy more), emotional, but stoic (what am I, a f#{€!ng fortune teller?), maybe a little horny,

...but mostly, "about F#€£!ng time!"

So far this is nothing like an 2013 rally because it hasn't broken ATH. It's more like a 2012 or the ramp up before a 2013 rally.  We will see, if passes ATH. Something about it doesn't feel like it's going to pass ATH though.  There's just way too much hype and there isn't a new exchange with tons of huge fiat deposits coming in.

I have seen everything happen in 2013 when I bought my first coins around $20-$25 back then. The current bull run surely excites me as it made me a good amount of profit. I smell money in the air every day. How can I not get excited. Especially last weeks. ;D

Feels just like the last two bubbles. Except now I'm used to it. Just checking price a little more often and feeling mildly excited.

Oh, and fielding bitcoin orders for my friends who are all of a sudden interested in throwing a few grand into bitcoin but have no idea how to do it.

I would say I feel euphoric, but it's business as usual and about Goddamn time!  ;D

I've been saying since the last bubble that it's all just a matter of time. I'll continue to say it too. $10k, $30k is coming it's simply just a matter of time.

Bitcoin feels a whole lot less fragile this time, past rallies I could barely sleep at night thinking at any moment the bottom was going to drop out.

as a long term bitcoin hodler i am pretty much excited to see bitcoin price is finally going to the moon and there is no longer small rise, stable periods in the market.

and most of all i am waiting anxiously to see what will be the top this time, and how much my prediction about it is correct.

this rise is equal to profit for me so obviously I am happy.

but also I can say that I am super excited, because this time I am a part of the history, and a part of the rise. I have already missed the rise to $1100 once before because I was too lazy to get into bitcoin and make an investment but now that I have been using bitcoin for two years and have invested in it I am very excited.

Bought my first Bitcoin the day before Halloween 2013 for $200. The price had already doubled from when I decided to buy to when I finally executed. I seriously thought I'd already missed the party.

I remember being on a camping trip in Big Bend for Thanksgiving, no reception, and happened to catch a snippet of Wifi at park HQ: Price had leaped to just under $1000.

Holy crap, what to do? I panic bought of course. Bought all the way up to $1155.

By Christmas, $1000 coins were a thing of the past. I bought all the way down into early 2014. Life happened through 2015, and it wasn't until we broke $400 I started paying attention again.

Been buying all the way up.

Proud to say I've HODLed every last coin.  Averaged in at $600.

Not until we break free and clear of $1200 and I achieve my own first doubling will this rally start to sink in for me.

And not until I witness another 5x doubling in no time at all will the excitement from those days really kick in!!

I like the choices on the poll you made. Anyway i think its just all a business about the price as we see many chinese investors using the chance to profit on the event hype we currently have which is the halving.

Yes, remember 2013 when skyrocket started I was thinking I will not sell until $5k but the rest of story you know guys. This time I am waiting until halving. Hope before halving we can see new ATH. Now I am relaxed as I ma very much confident i will be in profits after 2 years :)

I loved going to bitcoinity and seeing ALL TIME HIGH flashing at the top.
That is my main memory of it, and it happened quite a lot back then.

I hope to see it again sometime.  It does feel similar this time, massive swings, inevitable increases after 1 day of price stability!  It's exciting to wake up and want to check the price everyday!

Recalled that back in April 1st, 2013, the price on bitcoinity passed $100. And it showed a joker photo. I thought it was a joke for few seconds.

I feel like I did when I just started getting into Bitcoin. It's rare that Bitcoin goes up this high and we can expect it's value to hold and probably go higher a little more before the halving. Sell pressure is starting to build up sooner than expected but regardless what happens the mining supply will be heavily reduced in july so from there it should rise steady. Very excited for Bitcoin once again.

Pretty relaxed, as I'm not a trader and don't hold much BTC. Just watching this interesting experiment and having fun at it.
If BTC should crash really hard I won't lose much, as I did not invest much in the first place. If it goes to the moon I'm happy with the results even though I won't be able to buy a car or house with my BTC in the foreseeable future :-)

I voted "fearful".

I've sold some of my coins. It has gone up just too fast to be sustainable.

LOL

"I'm very curious to hear from the people who went through 2013 and previous big ass rises what they feel about the current situation."

Didn't really consider myself an "old timer" 'til now ;-) Kinda still don't just yet.

I am in the process of a big move: across country, selling my income property that I live in (escrow was supposed to close today but will be extended at least 3 weeks) , gave job notice a week+ ago, moving into an RV for at least the Summer. Those are the only reasons that I'm considering taking out my original investment and letting the rest ride for awhile.

I feel like it may dip again and hope I would be able to buy in and sell it again (as I've done more than  a few times).
I never want to be at less than 1...lol actually I'd rather never be at less than a 1000 but 1 is more realistic for the moment ;-)

Business as usual. But that is not necessarily a good thing.

Until the late 400s this rally looked quite healthy. It was a stable uptrend and should have continued this way. There was a bit of volatility, but Bitcoin was usable as a currency most of the time, for example for remittances. It didn't look like Bitcoin actually. Almost like a real currency.

But then greed came in and the community went euphoric. Too euphoric, I think. Because volatility went up to pre-2014 levels and Bitcoin was not longer usable as a currency. It was predictable, though, because of the halving event.

Don't get me wrong, I like the uptrend and expect a higher price in the future, but a stable uptrend with healthy corrections sometimes (with less than 10% loss) would be far more convincing and sustainable. If the rally goes on this way, then the top is near (or may be already in).

Business as usual.

That's pretty much my mindset as a long term hodler who got to experience the 2013 ATH and the few before it. For hodlers like myself, the long term big picture is what matters. All the ups and downs and wild swings and periods of stagnation don't affect me. Downward swings in price are opportunities for buying and accumulating more and adding to my hodlings.

It does feel good to see the general overall trend is upwards.

This rally makes me feel very hopeful for the future or Bitcoin as a currency. Right now it is more of a stock/commodity, which is fine because we can still use it like currency whenever we want to trade it for goods and services seamlessly and with little fees, but I really am excited because the the halving which will make the coin one step closer to being stable.

When Bitcoin finally recovered to ~$7 (after crashing from ~$32 to $1.99992) it looked high and I sold "way too many".
Mistakes like that cannot be reversed, but it is still exciting to see Bitchcoin  :D doing so well.

I think that something volcanic is happening right now since the price has been going up nonestop and I believe that the all time high of bitcoin price will be broken a few months after halving.

And to the oldtimers that bought BTC in 2013 at over $1000 - BTC price is already over $1000 in AUD terms, don't you worry ;)

Nothing volcanic is happening - it's a pump and the "action" is happening purely on the exchanges. If you look at the chart for transactions in the last 24 hours, it is about 245,000, which is where it has been for months. There is no new adoption or new users in that statistic.
