Title: Mullvad VPN Service - sent them too many BTC
Post by: Scott J on March 10, 2013, 06:34:00 PM
I accidentally sent 2 BTC to a previous deposit address of theirs.

I've tried e-mailing them asking for a refund, but they've yet to get back to me. There's no other contact details apart from a Swedish postal address.

What's more the 2 BTC haven't been credited to my account :(

Anyone happen to know the people who run it or have any other ideas?

UPDATE: RESOLVED

My coins were returned earlier today. I should have been more patient  :)

Not much you can do except wait I suspect if it hasn't been that long they may get back to you, if not, you'll know to be much more careful next time.

Using my phone, I wrongly thought I copied and pasted an address.

I happened to have the other Bitcoin address on my clipboard and since it's unusual for me to use my phone for this sort of thing, I assumed it was correct.

Lesson learnt!

I don't think they will give you a refund, be more careful next time.

To be honest, I expect them to. A real world business would in a similar situation.

What would be your justification for not refunding?

Expect an email with two words response. "Thank You".
Send me 2 coins "by mistake" as well. I promise I will send you such an email  :-*

I once also had a problem with mullvad where my payment wasn't credited. I mailed them and it was resolved in reasonable time. When did you email them? I wouldn't worry to much.

I reformated my PC without saving information about my mullvad account which I paid a year in btc up front. They were incredibly helpful customer service as far as trying to restore service for me without having to recharge me. In the end it didn't work out and I don't use Mullvad now because I paid a year up front and don't want to have to do that again. I still would recommend them however.

It was only a couple of days ago, so I'm sure I'll get an e-mail back eventually.

I can't fault their service at all - I will carry on using it.

So if you handed a cashier $20 instead of $10, then came back later with proof of the mistake, you would expect them to say sorry, your mistake?

We talk about bitcoins, what you say it's completely another situation.

I think the cashier won't take 10$ if you have to pay 20$.

Anyway, that's my opinion.

Wish you luck gettin' your bitcoins back

They're reputable.  It took them a week to e-mail me back last time I e-mailed them, so they aren't good with e-mail, but I  fully expect you'll get your coins back.

I received an e-mail back today offering to refund the coins.

They informed me that you can only use their deposit addresses once.

Once I have the coins I'll update the OP

 :)
