Now some of the developers are looking at ruining the reputation of their chain by pushing an emergency HF through to target a specific user and steal his ETH's that were , according to smart contract law " within the DAO correctly and legally transferred to him.

All it takes is for the hacker to turn those dao back into eth and eth is compromised. If the hacker can steal that much dao and dump it back into eth then it would be a total disaster for eth. The hacked ETH is locked for 27 days for the Child DAO "token creation"... so it's not going anywhere soon. Here is the central problem: "It's clear that writing a robust, secure smart contract requires extreme amounts of diligence. It's more similar to writing code for a nuclear power reactor, than to writing loose web code." Just like a nuclear reactor, Ethereum is as safe as the quality of it's engineers... And this is REALLY BAD news for LISK (and other platforms bolting on smart contracts)...
