We understand that a Top 10 International Banking Group are about to announce a trading platform based on the Etherium Blockchain Platform. Ethereum is a public blockchain platform with programmable transaction functionality. It provides a decentralized virtual machine that can execute peer-to-peer contracts using a cryptocurrency called Ether.

The trading engine will be a distributed model based on a, so called, "Smart contract". Smart Contracts are applications with a state stored in the blockchain. They can facilitate, verify, or enforce the negotiation or performance of a contract, or that make a contractual clause unnecessary.
The Banking Group has hired industry expert, Nick Leeson to head up the division.
"The Platform will be launched within the next month and will allow always on, low frequency, high latency international trading with distributed implicit trust."

A trading platform is a not a DAO.

It seems they are serving a vertical market.

A trading platform is a not a DAO.

I think we have gone beyond thinking of The DAO as a decentralized autonomous organization. ;)

I was thinking along the lines, DAO - Accident waiting to happen?

They are likely using well vetted hard-coded contracts. I expect only approved contracts run on their system.

The trades are trustless (decentralized protocol in control). But I expect the contracts are not trustless and there is a centralized authority vetting them.

Link to the story please.  Is this real?  Isn't Nick Leeson the trader who single handedly caused the collapse of Barings Bank?  There's a movie about him titled 'Rogue Trader', starring Ewan McGregor.  :D

lol all those invested banksters in Ethereum now will try to pump it for a last time to dump it at a good price before the prices goes stagnant due the problems we are seeing. Proceed with caution. (prank or not this is what I really think)

this is a good time to be planning a long entry in ethereum,

we all know ETHEREUM is here to stay...do you honestly think ethereum is dead/finished, stuck at stupid low prices for the rest of the coming years? come on haha, you know it wont happen.

Hahaha. I didn't fact check before posting. I was just commenting on what a "Banking Group" would likely create.

Nick looked strange to me, not like a CTO at a major corporation. But people post so much stuff, I don't have time to background check it all.

Actually, the Barings situation, Nick found himself sucked into, was a bit like the DAO - he probably would have been good to have in the DAO team.
