Shit, this aint funny at all. I have 3 GPUs very close to my bed, where my head is on. the heat is true, but I always leave my window open because of that, the keep the fans at a normal speed, I dont push them to 100%
But hell, I think im going to buy a dedicated miner to put in another place of the house sooner that I was.

thats why im talk about creating miners union - to maintain working safety standarts, share knowledge, dealing with traders and etc.
and of course, organize evil/wild orgys to celebrate BTC marching around Globe :P

Moral of the story, don't run a space heater in the middle of a hot summer?

I just hope rare stories like this don't get picked up and reposted all over as some dire warning of the evil dangers of this wicked bitcoin thingy.

They rushed me to the ER, and at this point I was barely conscious so I don’t remember everything, but they put bags of ice on me and made me drink tons of liquids
What, the ER was out of IV's?

That is standard treatment for hyperthermia...

Also I seriously thought this guy was trolling when I first saw the story on /g/.

so the 'source' for this 'true story' is bitcoinmining.com?  Is that like a division of CNN?

Hrmm. I'm by no means a medical expert, but my initial thought was they were doing it for hydration. But I guess along the same lines, people with hypothermia are given hot liquids too, to warm from the inside.

I don't know, find it hard to believe myself, but I guess anythings possible. I woke up hot last night because I forgot to turn the thermostat down to 74F and it was 78F in the room. But I guess some people can/will sleep through anything!

My three 5850s are in a different room and the ceiling/window fans go all night to keep the room cool.
