Title: [WANTED] Artist to do logos & mascots for my websites (more than 1 job here!)
Post by: DobZombie on March 11, 2013, 11:31:40 AM
Hi Guys!

I'm currently putting together a couple of websites and I need an artist capable of doing my site's logos and mascots.
I also need a logo and mascot for my (soon-to-be)wife's website.

This is what I need...

Site 1.
--I want something cartoony and nerdy as a mascot along with a logo (with and without the mascot)
--The logo and the mascot need to be easily used as an outline or an emboss (like on a coin for instance)
--The logo will mainly be the mascot.
--Redrawing the logo will need to be easily done, so I need something simple but easily changed.
--I'm going to need several versions of the logo or mascot to paste around the site and for advertising.

Site 2.
--I need the same again, but will involve jewellery.
--Doesn't have to be cartoony.
--The need for an outline/emboss type design is not necessary here.

Now I'm not going to be like all the lazy pricks around here and ask you guys to start drawing and posting work for me until I see what I like, I'm actually going to hire someone!

What I want you guys to do...

--I need you guys to post some work that you may have done in the past that may be relevant to what I'm after.

What I'm going to pay...

--I will pay a $50 advance to the artist that I decide on based on examples posted in this thread. Then a $100 payment once all drawings are done.
--If I got with an artist who has only been with the forums less than 6 months, or has less than 200 posts, no advance will be paid. I will of course pay $150 on completion of the job.
--I do reserve the right to split the tender If I see 2 different designs that I like for the 2 different sites (so $75 per artist).

The Job...

Details of the jobs will be revealed to the winning Artist.

Site 1.
A logo on its own.  A mascot on its own with 3 different poses.

Site 2.
A logo on its own.  A mascot on its own with 3 different poses. (Same again)  ;D

Terms...

--Job will be paid in tasty tasty BTCBTCBTC! (of course)  ;)
--The artist needs to be available for a minimum of 6 months to deliver more pictures/logos (I've got more sites in the works). This does not guarantee more work tho.
--I will need all pictures in a vector format so it can be blown up to any size.
--If the work is not what I asked for, or I don't like it, I reserve the right to ask for it to be redone.
--If the job can not be done/redone to my satisfaction I reserve the right to not pay for the job.

Hopefully people will also read this thread and hire based on what they see here hire some of you.  A lot of you guys are really talented and deserve recognition and more work!

Okay artists, impress me!

You're the prick.

When I posted my contest, I not only paid the winner, but I paid an additional BTC to the two runners up.  I doubt you will do that.

unfortunately, you maybe the exception to the rule.

Who am I to ask dozens of people to spend time on something they may not get paid for.  This is a job interview, not a competition.

I'm sure most artists would agree.

What I'm looking for is something cartoony. very easy to alter and easy to print or emboss on items.

for example...

or

http://thumbs.dreamstime.com/thumbimg_443/1255284486UPT1KW.jpg

or

http://thumbs.dreamstime.com/thumbimg_598/13025181565SyEIK.jpg

You know, simple and vector based (or a really really hi-res drawing)  :)

That's just the first site.  The second site will also be sorta simple design. Way different theme tho.

If you end up paying DPony13 for his work, I'm sure he wouldn't mind if you sent it directly to the people he owes coins to.

Our suggestion - maybe not a mascot really, but nice. The sign can be changed. Of course we can make everything cartoonish, but this was our todays idea.
Base:

Vectorized and comic-like:

Clouds added:

Hope you like it.

Lol, bitrocket  ;D

That's fantastic. How well does this technique go with cartoon people?

These leaves the mostly amateur designers to pick up this kind of work.

Almost everything on 48hourslogo.com appears to be "spec work", and yet it always looks highly professional.

Okay so I made this a few days ago,
I hope it's cartoony enough :3

I can do other styles and make the outline larger but I guess there's a simple example

Regarding picturing people - see below.

We've made it once from the photo from http://www.public-domain-photos.com/ - so, she's not a star nor politician :) . The palette of styles is wider, we've just joined together few examples.

Just to participate in dscussion - SPEC works are needed, of course you can sit calm waiting for a client, you can stick to one style for the rest of your life and cease informing the world about your abilities.
We like refreshing our portfolio, from time to time. It's a question of choice, not of quality of the designer.
And we like when people appreciate widely what we do - because making art is for us not only a way of earning money.
And when they donate - we are even more happy :D

I do design, but I don't do Spec. If you want to see examples of my work check out my website...

Did I ever said it's sketched by hand? No. It's transformed using a bunch of filters and then manually retouched. The best thing here is that a majority of filters we use we write on our own.
The rocket above is ours from a to z.
Later we will show a superhero comic guy we just make for other purposes.
The problem with this thread is that there is no clear indication about the request.
But, as we like playing with graphics - we do it.

Yeah sorry about that, I'm paranoid about people knicking my ideas.  I don't have good ones too often, and I'd hate it to be a waste :)

The position has been filled :)
