This is on Avalons site.. "For example, Avalon will not be responsible if a Bitcoin bug is introduced rendering it useless between the period of time which a batch of Avlaon units are build."

What does that mean?

It means: If Bitcoin stops working for some reason and your ordered and paid for ASIC miners are rendered useless before you get them, too bad for you, sucker. You already paid and you'll get them, even if there is no use for them. Say bye bye to your money. No refunds.

At least you'll have a coffee table with more class than Rassahs'...

I think what they mean is: should bitcoin have to change the hashing algorithm due to a flaw in sha256 or similar problem, they cannot be held responsible for that. Such a case is pretty unlikely, but if they don't state this and it actually happens, customers could complain: "This thing doesn't mine any bitcoins, money back!".

I think its pretty clear what it means, or in the very least, my understanding is that it is purpose built for the way bitcoin works right now (this very second), and it is useless for any other appliction.
With months between the initial ordering stage, and final delivery, the tiniest change in bitcoin makes these into doorstops.

At least with GPU mining, you can always resell the hardware, or to some extent use it for other applications.
