Title: Have you ever paid more than $700/BTC for any amount of Bitcoin?
Post by: Bit_Happy on June 20, 2016, 05:15:39 PM
The highest I ever paid was ~$510/BTC for about a third of a big one.
Bitcoin is supposed to be for everyone, not just the wealthy, so are you comfortable spending $50 (for example) for less than 0.1btc?

Have you ever paid more than $700/BTC for any amount of Bitcoin?

Yep, I bought all the way up to $1200 in 2013, and then continued to buy all the way back down to $200 by January 2015, and then continued to buy all the way back up to $760 this month.

Bitcoin has a lot of potential and in the long term any price you see now is a good price.

Of course, I'm typically only buying small amounts, and I'm generally using bitcoin all along as well, so the total amount of bitcoin that I have hasn't increased much over the years.  I've got an amount that I can feel comfortable with if this whole experiment collapses one day, but enough that I'll be quite happy if it lives up to the potential I see for the future.

I personally didn't . In fact , I never paid for my bitcoins at all.
All of them are from earning either services or by selling digital goods or signature campaigns.

Who cares? No matter the price of bitcoin, $50 will always get you $50 worth of bitcoin (-fees).

Exceptional, it is true that bitcoin will give you an advantage. And your way to do so is indeed already done right, because the price of the bitcoin unpredictable and prices will not come down until the bitcoin under $ 150. Because users are already experiencing growth that bitcoin is quite good, there is a possibility that the lowest default rates will be higher. May the hope we can quickly manifest

Yes I have. Back when I was still learning on late 2013 (lost all of them very fast though). And I generally doesn't mind buying at high price unless I feel that there might be better opportunity soon

I haven't bought any bitcoins after the price rally this month however

Never quite that high.  Bought in at $550 on the run up to ATH and then bought a bit more at $550 on the way back down again.  That's the highest I've ever paid.  Kicking myself for not buying more when it was in the $200-$300 range, though, heh.

Yep...I have bought (and sold) above $800.  Also purchased for family who have patiently waited for 2+ years for it to get back to their original purchase prices.  Hopefully in another month a two the price will be way above what they paid and I won't look so bad.... lol

yes i buy bitcoin when the price is 720USD. I think that the future will be more like bitcoin than this. and sure enough, a few days later bitcoin increased significantly. Now bitcoin is in rates 760USD. I have a considerable advantage when selling it now. but I will last until halving later.

In trading I have definitely bought small amounts above $700. I also got caught up in the big run up a couple of years a go when the price when over $1000 and I bought a little then. That was a mistake, but the price will pass that again some day.

Of course people are buying bitcoin over 700$. How do you think it got to over 700$? Magic?  It's a stupid question. To say the least it's redundant, as previously stated.

I haven't bought any bitcoin at all, and since it is an pretty high amount, I'm going to avoid buying it since the bubble could pop, and I could lose a lot. If 700$ hold, I might invest more.

Nope. The highest I ever paid for my coins was around $630 back in 2014. It was for 0.30 BTC. The price then kept going down and down, and I used that in my advantage to buy all the way down.

The highest I paid was around USD$1000... That was when I first started and used the very expensive "Virwox-Paypal" way of buying coins. Happy to I bought some when it was around $220. So my average/BTC is slightly lower than current price. Finally I am not in "Red" zone anymore.

I have not. I prefer to buy on a dip or during a much more stable time. What goes up must come down, but what goes down is often oversold and then cheaper to get.

I could have but I stopped myself. When bitcoin was rising beyond 700 USD, many traders were buying like goldrush. But I kept quite and stopped trading for few days. The security of my holding is the main priority to me. I am ready to earn little with low risk strategy. But I don't take high risk with my bitcoins.

I may end up loosing all.

Since I buying regularly once a month some fractions of Bitcoin with spare money, then yes I buying at today prices as well. I believe it is called cost averaging when you buy regularly, regardless of price. It works well over longer periods, because you buy regardless of price so you catch all the ups and downs in price and your average price you bought in is fair.

The Bitcoin is usefull regardless whether the price is over or under your treshold, its more psychoogical factor and because last month we had relatively stable Bitcoin price slightly under your treshold, these prices seems to become rather a norm.

bitcoin IS for everyone. It's a currency.
It would be reasonable to say it's just for the wealthy people if you have to buy at least 1 btc at a time and cannot be broken down any smaller

He could have asked it a bit better by saying... Have you ever paid for bitcoin when the price per Bitcoin were higher than $700.  ::) ... My guess is, the majority of the people are buying Bitcoin in much

smaller quantities and not whole bitcoins at a time. I have personally bought whole Bitcoins, when the price was in the $200 range last year, but I had a good feeling about it bouncing back and I am

very happy that I did. I think some people who bought in during the $1200 price range, are still waiting for it to be profitable above that price.  ::)

Yeah, same with me, I never stopped buying (small amounts), even when Bitcoins were worth over $1000.
In those days it was usually for making small purchases on the forums, since I had just sold the majority of my coins for a very good price.

I am sorry to say, but I am one of the people who has paid over $660 for Bitcoin.  The only reason I did this is because I needed to pay for products and services through Bitcoin and I could not get it elsewhere.  I do not consider it paying that much or more than what another has paid because I traded something of one value to someone who had something of the same value.

I haven't paid more than $700 for Bitcoin ever but then again I don't need to buy Bitcoins to spend on stuff I could be buying with cash from my salary because I would be paying more in fees than the actual Bitcoin discount if there is any would be worth anyways and it is just counter-intuitive for me. I am not buying Bitcoins for long-term storage either and whatever amount of coins I currently have is gained through freelancing online part-time. I guess I am more of a seller than a buyer myself and I don't trade either. Why should I buy Bitcoin for spending when I can use cash directly? It just doesn't make sense.

To the OP, if you paid $500+ for a 1/3 of a bitcoin than you've paid the equivalent of $1500+ for one bitcoin.

Bitcoin is supposed to be for everyone, not just the wealthy, so are you comfortable spending $50 (for example) for less than 0.1btc?

Have you ever paid more than $700/BTC for any amount of Bitcoin?

I never experienced anything like that. It's simply because I haven't purchased any bitcoins in my entire life. I either produced them through mining, gambling online jobs and signature campaign. But if I have much money then maybe I can buy bitcoins and invest it to get more income

No. I would expect the person who buys it at 700 to be quite stupid. I have sold it at that price, but my maximum buying price is probably around 500 to 550.  :D

I use Bitcoin for the practical eCommerce applications and the discounts and if I need to buy something worth say $200, I would buy that amount of bitcoin. So at today's price {$660/BTC} would give me 0,3026 BTC I then go out and buy the item at that price.

Some companies even give you discounts, if you pay with Bitcoin, so it is cheaper for me to use Bitcoin. The discounts + lower fees = Big savings.  ;D

I haven't bought any bitcoin at all, and since it is an pretty high amount, I'm going to avoid buying it since the bubble could pop, and I could lose a lot. If 700$ hold, I might invest more.
I have never spend more then $500 for Bitcoin but I am sure that that is going to change soon because the Bitcoin price is only getting higher.
So eventually of you want  to buy again then you will have to spend more.

I don't think I've spent over 700 dollars on s bitcoin yet.  I may have spent that amount for a fraction of a coin but not a whole one.  If price remains steady then I'm sure i will be spending 700 dollars soon since i like to buy every few months regardless of price.

I have experienced paying more than 700 usd in BTC.  That was way back 2014 when I bought 4 pcs of 1TH miner.  And the added cost of custom tax.  It was ordered in China and delivered in Australia.  the miner cost around 0.8 BTC each and shipping fee of 0.56  BTC.  Those time BTC is ranging from 250 usd to 350 usd

I think I haven't paid more than that for any amount of bitcoin. Well if I remember it correctly the highest price I set when im buying bitcoin is less than 300$ nothing more nothing less. If it is above that I don't buy even a penny worth of bitcoin. I just stockpile and earn via free methods if the price is above 300$ since I don't want to buy any bitcoin above that price.

I bought a little when the price was over $800 a few years ago. That seem expensive now, but I also bought a lot at prices around $200 so it all evens out.

Yup it's true, because I always make a purchase with a purpose of bitcoin that I can get an advantage in the increase could happen anytime, but only if the price is at one of the numbers only (stable) for sure I would spend $ 700 or more for what I want

yes, but that's only for trading purposes as with day trading i constantly buy and sell at various price levels. beside buying for trading purposes at such prices, i have not bought it for myself as in holding these coins for the long term.

You answered my place. I buy only for trade but not for storage. Buy for storage should have been a couple of months ago. Everyone knew about the upcoming Halving awards.
Price does not matter if you buy something only for speculation.

Never bought over $700 but did sell 2x at $700.

I re bought 2 at 620 on the pull back but that was the closest
thing I paid to 700$. 700 seems to be a spot of resistance for now
we were in the $600-700 range many times but always had problems
getting to 700 and breaking through.  Its gonna take a big push to break
it and hold. Hopefully we consolidate here around 600-680 ish and then
move up sharply from there. I think investors are just making sure we hold
600 for awhile before buying more.

it seems that you are going to soon make the roi for that first time you bought your bitcoins, i have never bought my bitcoins so expensive, i think it is better to buy when the price is dumped

I also rarely make transactions using bitcoin $ 700 directly, but if used in isolation. may have been collected up to $ 700
I prefer to keep or get for free rather than buying bitcoin

Nope, I have not ever paid more than around 600 for BTC, because im still buying, im going to keep buying until I reach 21 BTC at any price, I don't care the price because in the 10 years it will be a bunch of times way more valuable, so price doesn't matter, it's all cheap until it's 100k+ per coin.

and same as to me i also never paid about 700 USD/ bitcoin but still i will like to say that 700 is still a little low rate and the rate of bitcoin will increase more that that.

Keep buying are okay. But don't forget to spend it too, even though it's hard to find a merchant that accept bitcoin so far. At least spend it for online stuff like a game in steam game center or something like that. I was have a plan to buy a car using bitcoin few months ago unfortunately in my location there is not yet a merchant accept bitcoin it's maybe could be my first large transaction over $700 in bitcoin.

Yes once I paid that amount for buying my bitcoins, it was the time when the price of bitcoin was increasing much faster in the last month, I was sure that the price will increase more higher so I immediately bought some for myself, and when the price reached at $780 i need some money and I converted them to fiat and on the next day the bitfinex downed and the price started to decrease.
