Bitbunny, if you want a certificate for that Zambian emerald I can supply one from Tokyo Gem Lab for 35USD.  If you want a report from a different lab just tell me which lab and I will give you a quote.

Slow death, that 4.14ct Cambodian zircon is 140USD per carat.  Same conditions apply- if you want a Tokyo Gem Lab report it's $35, or if you want a different lab just ask and we will work it out.

Thank you Bitbunny.  And keep in mind that my wife and I are in the middle of the gemstone district here in Bangkok so if you want a stone a little bigger, smaller, or a different shape- just ask.  We can source most any gemstone here.  If you ever have a question about gemology in general, or the specific properties of a gemstone like hardness, or suitability for a specific purpose like use in a ring, pendant, or bracelet- don't hesitate to ask.  I don't know all of the answers but what I don't know I can find in short order.

It occurs to me that some people coming across this thread might have no idea whether I am just some random guy so this may help:

https://s31.postimg.org/xxt3tb0kn/IMG_20160624_135420.jpg (https://postimg.org/image/xxt3tb0kn/)

I've been in this business in Asia for about 13 years, and my wife has been an active part of it for almost 9 years.  Originally when she moved from the Philippines to join me in Thailand we lived in Chanthaburi.  This was a great place to get our arms elbow-deep into the gemstone trade, but a couple of years later we moved to Bangkok to expand our custom jewelry business.  There are a lot of businesses here in Silom that cater to the jewelry trade and that is advantageous when you want a choice of casting houses, bench jewelers, and wax and CAD artists.  Over the years we've found a great team of artisans that provide consistently high quality, and we are able to undercut Western consumer markets on custom jewelry by a wide margin.

Here is a video from the early days!

All this to say, no, I am not some random guy.  My wife Melanie and I have built a life around the gemstone trade and around custom jewelry.  If you have a question about gemstones or custom jewelry please give me a holler!  Also if you want to visit us on eBay take a look here:

If you go to either "tiptopgem.com" or to "paragonuniversaltrade.com" it forwards to my business Facebook account.  You will see posts there from my personal account, "David B. Fortier", so feel free to add me as a friend if you would like!

This is a really gorgeous untreated yellow sapphire that weighs 4.08 carats.  You can see the dimensions on the laboratory report image below.  Sapphire is most often treated to enhance color or clarity or both, but this stone was a vibrant yellow color straight out of the earth and required no treatment.

If you want details on this sapphire, or if you are looking for a blue sapphire, a different size or shape of sapphire, just get in touch.

I am asking $970 per carat for this yellow sapphire including independent laboratory report.

The ruby market is going through a huge change right now.  For decades Burma has supplied most of the world's fine and commercial-quality ruby but as supplies there have dwindled a new deposit in Montepuez, Mozambique has exploded onto the scene.  What is most exciting to me as a gemologist is that the majority of rubies from this mining area do not require treatment.  They aren't heated, or heated with chemicals, or infused with oil or resin in order to increase their beauty.  They just don't need to be!  Only a few short years ago if you wanted a 3-carat ruby with no treatment, you would be limited to a Burmese stone that would cost as much as a very nice house in many Western countries.  Because Mozambique is producing such an amazing quantity of stunning stones, prices have come down as this material makes its way onto the market.  What is just as exciting is the way it is mined and distributed by Gemfields.  The process is entirely transparent to ensure that the source country participates in their own natural wealth instead of being exploited by shady deals, as so often happens with gemstones.  Rough ruby is sold at public auction in Singapore, ensuring that the taxes are paid and the Mozambican government gets their fair share.

We don't have any guarantee that the current system will go on forever though.  Mozambique has had its fair share of political and economic strife and we can't be sure that the mining concession with Gemfields will stay in place.  But for now, you can buy some amazing ruby for much, much lower prices than you've ever been able to in the recent past.  Let me show you a 3-ct sized stone that is available at the moment:

https://s32.postimg.org/9kti8a6v5/IMG_3766.jpg (https://postimg.org/image/9kti8a6v5/) https://s32.postimg.org/k8x974gu9/IMG_3767.jpg (https://postimg.org/image/k8x974gu9/) https://s32.postimg.org/kmyl6q0xt/IMG_3768.jpg (https://postimg.org/image/kmyl6q0xt/)

https://s32.postimg.org/iekepdttt/IMG_3782.jpg (https://postimg.org/image/iekepdttt/) https://s32.postimg.org/9xphs7eip/IMG_20160621_141932.jpg (https://postimg.org/image/9xphs7eip/) https://s32.postimg.org/50bx73cjl/IMG_20160621_142044.jpg (https://postimg.org/image/50bx73cjl/)

This stone has an independent report from one of the world's foremost ruby experts, Dr. Adolf Peretti (GRS/Swisslab).  He is known for his encyclopedic research in ruby and sapphire so it is easy to find his research online.  Note also that he calls this stone "pigeon's blood", which is the most desirable and rare color of fine ruby.  Don't think of it as a needle in a haystack, but rather a bit of hay in a haystack!  Ruby of such intense color is extremely rare.  It's even more amazing when you consider that it didn't require heat or any other treatment to produce this color- this crystal was mined from the earth in northern Mozambique, cut and polished ONLY.

I am asking $37,880 for this stone.  Please inquire for details, or if you would like a one-carat or two-carat stone (or a five-carat stone!) just ask.  If I have the stone that you want in inventory I can give you a price and details, and if not I can visit some of the other dealers here in the gemstone district of Silom and I can find the right stone at the right price.

This is the 4.14 carat Caribbean Sea blue natural zircon that is listed above for 140USD per carat.  Note that zircon is a natural stone that comes from the ground- it is not related to "cubic zirconia" which is made in a factory.  This stone was mined in Ratanakiri Province, Cambodia.

This is another untreated yellow sapphire.  It was mined from the earth and cut and polished ONLY.  No heat, no chemicals, no oil or resin fillers- just natural sapphire.  3.06 carats and 739USD per carat.  This is a very beautiful, brilliant, and highly diaphanous gemstone.

This is a gorgeous 2.97 carat Nigerian rubellite.  This is a type of tourmaline, and it is prized for its very beautiful red color.  Rubellite is routinely treated with irradiation and this stone is sold as irradiated.  Excellent color and brilliance make this a stunning gemstone that you will be very proud to own!

This is a 4.74 carat royal blue sapphire.  Royal blue color is the most valuable and desirable color for sapphire, and this stone was mined in Ceylon (Sri Lanka), a country known for fabulous sapphire.  $12,990US total for the stone.

Don't buy this gemstone.  Collecting gemstones is worse than a drug habit, and once you start there is no turning back.  If you are already addicted then this message is for you- buy this chrysoprase!  Chrysoprase is one of the most valuable forms of quartz, and it gets its color from nickel.  This stone was mined in Australia, as most fine chrysoprase is.  It has not been treated- no heat or dyes or fillers!  This stone is 100% natural.  The dimensions are 11.21 x 9.00 x 4.47mm deep, and it weighs 2.91 carats.  The price is $14 per carat plus $12 shipping for registered mail.  Note as well that if you buy more than one stone, you only pay shipping one time provided all stones can be shipped together and via the same method.

Hi VERUMinNUMERIS- let me know what you are looking for and I can talk to some of the diamond brokers here and get a price for you.  Let me know shape, weight in carats, color, clarity, and what kind of report you want.  GIA reports tend to be highest prices.

It has to be GIA.  I know a good broker but he's on the west coast and I can't get there.  If you guys offer legit stuff and can beat bluenile prices then I would consider it.  Well, when I get the money and the girl.  See, always thinking ahead.  lol.  Thanks!

Hi cartell0- if you want an independent laboratory report for any stone that we sell just ask.  You choose the lab, not us.  I've been selling gemstones and making fine jewelry for over a decade.  As "tiptopgem" on eBay I had about 700 positive reviews and no negatives.  Our current account there is fairly new- "paragonuniversaltrade"; my wife Melanie and I registered it when we established our corporation in Thailand in 2013.  Feel free to google around for Tip Top Gem, "David Fortier", and Paragon Universal Trade to find information about us on the gemstone forums and  other platforms.  If you find a single negative comment anywhere it would shock me.

We also have some "trust" here on this forum, and there are comments by people who have purchased gemstones from us and for whom we have made custom fine jewelry.  While there is always a chance for a retailer to "go rogue" and run away with your money, I think after you do some research you will realize that this possibility is very small in our case.  Selling gemstones and making custom jewelry is our only business- it's how we pay our bills.  I can't get rich selling one stone to you, rather I want to thrill you with your first purchase so you keep coming back and so you tell your friends and family about us.

Note that I am not just a random guy selling gemstones- I am a GG (graduate gemologist).  I made a substantial financial investment to go to gemology school and learn this trade.

https://s31.postimg.org/jyvhk8cnr/IMG_20160624_135420.jpg (https://postimg.org/image/jyvhk8cnr/)

You can verify my credentials at gia.edu.  I am also a member in good standing of the GIA Alumni Association.  I've sold at the largest gemstone show in the world in Tucson several times as well, and if you would like to talk to some other industry members who can vouch for me I would be happy to supply contacts.

Another very easy way to get in touch with current clients is to add me as a friend on Facebook.  I post gemstones and jewelry there, and many of the people who comment on my posts are current clients.  Feel free to send any of them a message and ask about me- that will provide a very good random sampling of people who have done business with me and my wife.

This is a video that I made in 2008 in Chanthaburi, which is the gemstone market in eastern Thailand:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-rbpnk47t_c (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-rbpnk47t_c)

My wife and I lived in Chanthaburi for a couple of years, but as fine jewelry became more important to our business we chose Bangkok because most of our strategic partners are here in the Silom gem district.  We actually have a "bricks and mortar" office in Silom:

Paragon Universal Trade Co., Ltd.
BIS/Warner Building 8th Floor 8A7
Mahaesak Road, Suriyawong
Silom
Bangkok 10500
Thailand

We are there every day, Monday to Friday (except Thai holidays), and we've had an American toll-free number for over a decade: 800-607-1425.

If you have any other questions just let me know, and thanks for asking!

Our prices are well below market for comparable goods.  Our marketing costs and overhead are very low, and we source stones directly here in Thailand without intermediaries.  The colored gemstone supply chain is very long and inefficient.  Your local jeweler can buy from a "wholesaler", but he bought from a wholesaler who bought from one who came to Thailand to buy.  All I have to do is take the elevator down 7 floors from my office and there is a gemstone bourse where I can buy.  Across the street is the Jewelry Trade Center skyscraper, where you will find the largest single gemstone bourse on the planet.  I don't have to pay a "wholesaler" to buy stones for me, so I can offer them for less money.  You have the advantage of buying direct.

This is an untreated heliodor from Namibia.  Heliodor is yellow beryl.  When beryl is green it is emerald.  When it is colorless it is goshenite.  When it is blue/green or green/blue it is aquamarine.  This beautiful stone weighs 1.90 carats and is very brilliant and nearly eye-clean.

The rich yellow color tells you that this is 18K gold, and the vivid deep-red stone is a beautiful and brilliant UNTREATED Burmese red spinel cushion 1-carat size.  This is a simple but magnificent and high-quality ring that any woman would adore.  $399 plus shipping and insurance.

This ring is USA size 7, but we can resize it for a modest charge.

Some low-priced gemstones are reaching the end of their 7-day auction period and some are still as low as ONE CENT.  These are NOT junk stones- they are high-quality and beautiful stones from our regular inventory that were listed with a one-cent opening bid for promotional purposes.  Please take a look and note that I always accept bitcoin for payment if you win an auction:

Please don't hesitate to ask me if you have any questions about a stone.  I am not just a gemologist, but I am a passionate gemstone collector myself.  I love stones!  If there is anything that you don't know, anything that piques your curiosity, holler at me!  Send me a message on this forum, or go to paragonuniversaltrade.com (which forwards to my business facebook page) and send me a note.  I will answer any question about gemstones, big or small, easy or hard!

Please keep an eye on our store!  Many new stones are coming, some items are on sale, and more and more of our auctions will offer free shipping.  As always if you win an auction you can pay me directly with bitcoin.  Some people are confused about how this works, but all you have to do is win the auction and let me know via message on this forum that you want to pay with bitcoin.  After payment is received I mark it paid on eBay and ship the stone directly to you.

Here is our store- please bookmark it and check back often:

http://stores.ebay.com/Paragon-Universal-Trade (http://stores.ebay.com/Paragon-Universal-Trade)

If you are in the USA you can also pay for any eBay purchases with a personal check.  Of course if you wish you can use Paypal right on the eBay site and pay with a debit card, credit card, or via bank account debit.  The only hard part is figuring out which stone to buy!

I've posted five new auctions and all start at less than $20.  Please take a look!

These two are totally untreated Ethiopian opal from the Welo mining region:

Please follow me on Twitter to keep up with the exciting stones that we are posting!  @tiptopgem

Summertime is slow in the gemstone business so take advantage of the lack of bidders and land a bargain!  Many auctions are starting very low and all auctions are NO RESERVE- if you win for the opening bid, you own the stone:

http://stores.ebay.com/Paragon-Universal-Trade (http://stores.ebay.com/Paragon-Universal-Trade)

Ask any questions that you have right here on the thread, or send me a private message on this forum, or go to paragonuniversaltrade.com or tiptopgem.com as both of these forward to Paragon's Facebook page where you can leave a message.

This Kenyan dravite bi-color tourmaline is one of the rarest and most exciting stones that we have listed in a long time:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/VERY-RARE-dravite-bi-color-tourmaline-from-Kenya-1-64-cts-VIDEO-free-shipping-/162158344037 (http://www.ebay.com/itm/VERY-RARE-dravite-bi-color-tourmaline-from-Kenya-1-64-cts-VIDEO-free-shipping-/162158344037)

If you would like to own a stone that NOBODY else has, that tourmaline from Taita Taveta in the Coast Province of Kenya is ideal.  It's incredibly well-cut with superb brilliance, both yellow and orange body color, and it has incredible presence in the hand.  The sparkles will speak to you!  TOTALLY UNTREATED tourmaline- no heat or chemicals or resin or oil, and no surface coatings.  It was mined from the earth in Taita Taveta, Kenya and cut and polished ONLY.

Hi Finrope- sorry, no list because our inventory changes constantly.  But please check out the auctions we have going now:

http://stores.ebay.com/Paragon-Universal-Trade (http://stores.ebay.com/Paragon-Universal-Trade)

You can win any auction we have listed on eBay and pay with bitcoin.  We always accept bitcoin for payment on eBay items, and for items that you buy direct.  If you look at some of our other threads here in the "Goods" section of the marketplace on Bitcointalk you will see many stones for sale that are not listed on eBay.

Of course if you have any questions just ask.  I am not only a gem dealer but also a gemologist:

Thanks for the question and please follow us on Twitter: @tiptopgem

If you go to paragonuniversaltrade.com you will be redirected to our Facebook page there where you can message me, but I also answer messages on the threads here and via personal message on this forum.

This smoke-treated Ethiopian Welo opal will list in our eBay store very soon:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XNv1FPYHoO8 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XNv1FPYHoO8)

Smoke-treated Ethiopian material is designed to look like natural Australian black opal.  The treated Ethiopian material sells for far less than fine Australian black opal, so this will be a great opportunity to get a beautiful black opal at a very low price.

Of course this is not the only stone that is coming!  Melanie and I have been out on the gemstone bourse in the Jewelry Trade Center in Silom- the epicenter of the global gemstone trade- and we are bringing you the very best stones that Bangkok has to offer!  If you want to see more, please add me on Twitter:

@tiptopgem

This is a really gorgeous fluorite that is not only cut in Thailand (true of most gemstones that we sell), but it also came out of the ground here. This gemstone was mined in Doi Than Ngoam, Phrae Province in northern Thailand and it is a beauty:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z_VN0Z6CrgY (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z_VN0Z6CrgY)

This Thai fluorite weighs 9.997 carats, or just a teeny tiny bit below ten carats, and will be in our eBay store in a matter of hours.  Please bookmark this link and keep checking:

http://stores.ebay.com/Paragon-Universal-Trade (http://stores.ebay.com/Paragon-Universal-Trade)

Don't assume that it is expensive!  Thai fluorite can be quite reasonable even for fairly large, well-cut, and beautifully colored gems like this example.

Remember you can always send me a private message on this forum, or go to paragonuniversaltrade.com and you will be forwarded to our Facebook page where you can send me a message.

EDIT: the fluorite is up now!

I've just listed two exceptional rubies from Montepuez mining region in Mozambique.  This mining area is producing some of the most beautiful ruby that the world has ever seen.  Please take a look:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/UNTREATED-Mozambican-pigeons-blood-ruby-GRS-report-1-02cts-WITH-VIDEO-/162195513627?ssPageName=STRK:MESE:IT (http://www.ebay.com/itm/UNTREATED-Mozambican-pigeons-blood-ruby-GRS-report-1-02cts-WITH-VIDEO-/162195513627?ssPageName=STRK:MESE:IT)

Don't hesitate to get in touch with me if you are looking for heated or untreated ruby from Mozambique.  I have access to exceptional stones of all sizes from one carat to ten carats and even larger.  Pigeon's blood color has never been so affordable- when Burmese material was the only game in town you had to invest an extraordinary sum to own top color.  Right now pigeon's blood color in one and two carat sizes is within reach for most ruby aficionados.  At three carats the price goes up quite a bit but nothing like 3-ct Burmese ruby, and the vast majority of Mozambican ruby is completely untreated.  As with the two rubies above which I've listed on eBay, independent laboratory reports are never a problem to obtain.  We do business with well-respected labs like Lotus, AIGS, GRS, and Tokyo Gem Lab on a regular basis.

If you want more information on this amazing ruby from Montepuez, Mozambique please feel free to get in touch with me and I would be more than happy to answer your questions.  I am not only a graduate gemologist (GIA), but I am also a stone collector and a ruby lover myself so it's not a bother!

Most pictures are deleted.

Why not just make a website and only accept BTC ?

This will make sales and promotion easier and we customers can view your products.

Thanks for the suggestions.  My inventory changes constantly, and all of my jewelry projects are custom so I don't actually have much to display.

Sorry MafiaCoin- the emerald is sold.  I'm still in Thailand for a couple of weeks if you want me to source a different one for you.  Zambian material that is only treated with colorless oil is the most popular choice among my clients.  Send me a PM if you would like.  And yes, we ship worldwide with some exceptions- we don't ship anywhere in Africa, for example.

I don't have any ruby left, sorry!  Most of what I've sold has been Burmese or Mozambican ruby.  Traditionally Cambodia has produced very little ruby; they are more famous for blue sapphire from the Pailin area.  And of course natural zircon comes from the northeast in Ratanakiri Province.  That part of Cambodia produces the most fabulous blue zircon.
