Title: Bitcoin and Erlang Post by: Ramazi on June 22, 2016, 03:13:27 PM Hi All,
Is there any ongoing (live) Bitcoin projects based on Erlang? I have searched this forum, but no luck: BitEN is not mainteined anymore https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=155476.0 Bitcoin message verifier is not updated for 3 years https://github.com/ningzhang/bitcoin-message-verifier I'm surprised (( Is it any reason why Erlang is not used for Bitcoins? Title: Re: Bitcoin and Erlang Post by: Ramazi on June 22, 2016, 04:01:45 PM Yes, two reasons (for me):
- integration with the rest of the infrastructure - maintenance of the homogeneous environment Erlang is widely used for heavy loaded gaming/gambling sites on backend side, so Bitcoing integration seems to be a natural feature. Title: Re: Bitcoin and Erlang Post by: Ramazi on June 23, 2016, 12:11:58 PM Actually, my question is a bit different.
Is it reasonable to develop BitCoin libraries for Erlang, is there a need for it, or am I just alone? :) Title: Re: Bitcoin and Erlang Post by: amaclin on June 23, 2016, 12:47:26 PM Actually, my question is a bit different. The answer depends on your goals. Is it reasonable to develop BitCoin libraries for Erlang, is there a need for it, or am I just alone? :) If you want to learn bitcoin technology or/and erlang language - these are the reasons to start. If you want to earn money or/and create great software - i doubt that erlang is good for this.
