Title: Computer heat and Speedfan
Post by: Warry on March 12, 2013, 07:24:06 PM
Hey,

When mining with my cgminer my computer really heats up (Speedfan lists every temperature with a Flame, as in that it's too warm), and I was wondering if someone could tell me how to reduce this, and what temperatures are the ones I should look to (and what their max should be).

Also, I can turn up my GPU fan from 58% (standard) to 100% with Speedfan. It makes an incredible noise if I do this, though. Is this good for my pc or not?

Thanks!

set cgminer to autofan and target temp to 70 degree. The fan will make a lot of noise but you have to accept it .

I concur with letting CG Miner control your GPU fans.

In Speedfan you can set the "flame" thresholds at anything you want, I think the default is something like 55C which is nothing to worry about on any component in a computer.  So pay attention to the actual temps instead of the flame.

There are people who run their GPU's anywhere from 50C to 90C or even higher sometimes.  I let CGMiner maintain mine around 75C which is the default.
