Title: Signature limits.
Post by: Anonymous on June 11, 2011, 08:20:24 PM
Alright, things are getting ridiculous with the size of some signatures.

Can we agree on a limit of 120 pixels high?

Can we agree on one line of text - no flashing/moving shit?

Yes, this is going out of hand, it is starting to look like a kiddie forum.

Moving stuff should be disabled, and signatures should be text-only and 1 line max. And maybe limit the avatar images to 70x70 or so...

I could deal with a few lines of text (but would support none at all, or one line or whatever) but definitely support no flashing/moving shit and preferably no graphics at all as is pretty standard across most forums these days (and email)

+1. I can't even believe you're complaining about this Atlas. You have the most distracting signature I've seen yet on this forum.

Just because I have liberty to show you my shit coming out my ass, doesn't mean it's very useful and I am courteous enough not to waste your time forcing to watch it

I would prohibit animated and large signatures if SMF supported it. Maybe there's a mod.

I am deleting all animated image posts that I can find.

This is already enabled for new users, but I don't want to prevent all signature images.

unless this feat is disable completely is cool to keep it in that way "by default".

what's the number of posts required to enable sigs - I just spent a day writing a signature generator for bitcoins.lc hash rate and would like to put it as my sig (once I iron out a few issues)

Honestly I wouldn't frequent a forum with signatures unless the people in it talked about Bitcoin nonstop. Signatures are awful. Can there be a way to not see them?

It's not that I don't like people pimping stuff, it just breaks the flow with repetitive ads. I'm going to take advantage of it soon so don't fix it yet.  ;)

Links require 10 posts and images 50.

The high image requirement is due mostly to the threat of users who embed "images" that are actually referral links, spreading their referral cookies to everyone.

You can disable the display of signatures in your profile settings.
