Title: I found the Australian Bitcoin auction BTC address
Post by: DisruptMeister on June 23, 2016, 09:45:12 PM
They keep mentioning 24,518 Bitcoin as the total. I did some searching and found this: https://blockchain.info/address/3MpHZFXuWW3zXL8AYKcfNHLW7ZCRBayy3W The dates match perfectly with the initial May press release. Obviously the auction is over but the winner(s) have yet to receive Bitcoin. We need to watch this address- we should be able to figure out a lot more from the BTC sent from it. My video about it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nXXtxNta1F8  -Adam Meister of DisruptMeister.com

Yeah, I ever heard Australian want to make an auction for their bitcoin, but this is amazing it's a very big amount. Does someone know maybe using bitcoin in Australian becomes an illegal activity?

This is just like another US bitcoin auction and most likely not going to affect the market price in anyway. No one will know the buy price so relax and life goes on.

It's a nuisance and it irritates the hell out of me, when these companies do that to your address. If I see that spam on my address, I would avoid them like the plaque. The Australian government only warmed up to Bitcoin, when they saw that they could make more money from it. Monitoring that address will not help, if the recipient receive the coins through a mixer service. ^hmmm^

Does anyone knwo that actual price these bitcoins went for? if they went for market value then there would be no need to worry about anyone dumping them anytime soon as they will obviously have been bought for investment purposes. The only way they would be dumped is if they were bought significantly under market value.

BTC on move now

Looks like at least 3 different winners to the auction since the following 2 addresses got 2000BTC (1 auction lot) and 4518 BTC (2 Auctions lots) https://blockchain.info/address/12aDD1xX9oP5V9PkEQm9G2H9vjrwW91u8i

https://blockchain.info/address/1L3h2xbDRmJDZooz9DFM4k43iVfvhJ1kog

This is good news. More than 1 winner means more likely chance to figure out who 1 winner was and that they might leak the price.

I do not understand about this thread, if you could explain it better ..?? . the reason that I captured from your talks, that Australia will be the countries that accept Bitcoin in each transaction, if my understanding is right.??

Wow it is a very surprising event. The mystery behind the auction is what tickles me. Why do they auction their bitcoin, what is their main agenda? Do they foresee the downfall of bitcoin thats why they let go such amount of bitcoins. Even though its a confiscated bitcoin from a native from their country why would they auction it and not use it themselves? Mind buggling..

That's a pretty crazy amount, this must of had to do with something illegal from back in the day

Yes the Bitcoin were from the Silk Road bust from back in the day:
https://www.cryptocoinsnews.com/24518-bitcoin-auction-australia/

I think by law the Government has to liquidate "illegal assets" that it has acquired.  They end up making a huge profit for the tax payer in theory.

There were 5 winners. I give the information here:
