Title: May I mine Ethereum with hardwares of bitcoin miners? For example AntS7 or S9? Post by: uzaylibeyb on June 26, 2016, 10:34:40 AM In the ethereum pools, total hashes are about 10-20 GH/s. However in the bitcoin pools it's more than many TH/s. For example if I have Antminer S7(4860 GH/s), may I use these hashes in the ethereum pools? Ethereum pools hashes are too low. Why?

Bitcoin is SHA-256 and ETH is Ethash (some kind of hybrid algo). Bitcoin miners are designed to "mine" SHA-256 based coins.
You're seeing lower hashrate on ETH pools because they don't use specialized ASICs and only uses GPU to mine. Title: Re: May I mine Ethereum with hardwares of bitcoin miners? For example AntS7 or S9? Post by: toptek on June 26, 2016, 11:39:12 AM Thank you, now I understand why pool hashes too low to be honest I'm amazed you even see any hashing without a lot of rejects that counter it ( I'm not making fun or being rude either) , in short no hash and no reward at all tiring it . if you decide to, you can CPU mine ETH, and not just GPU mine , just have to look up how to . :) .but do like they all say only do sha256 type coins with S9's or antminers ): . |
