Title: Buying Options for bitcoin
Post by: philiveyjr on June 27, 2016, 03:02:40 PM
Is there any site which allows you to buy options for put or sell ? I am looking to buy options particularly for the bitcoin prices, but would also be open to sites which allow options for other stocks.

I would also like a site like this if anybody knows. The sites I know are just exchanges and some when you put an order takes some time and price changes and you make a loss almost instantly. Will check this thread.

Just so you know, I did do some research. One reason why options aren't popular is because of the volatility, so not a lot of people are comfortable putting out options to sell.

You can use iq option ; http://iqoptions.co.uk

They have options for bitcoin prices as well if that's what you're looking for.

I think this and https://iqoption.com/ this are differents but found that iqoptions.co.uk doesn't have ssl certificate.
I think better to try https://iqoption.com/ as i have heard this before also but haven't tried as i am not interested.

Found this : http://blog.iqoption.com/en/bitcoin-binary-options-trading-on-iq-option/

so yes they have bitcoin option also.

They're having some really bad reviews lately though but i didnt make any deposits so no harm done  ;D

There are not except offcourse if you try Forex exchanges. A while a go i found plus 500. You can short or buy bitcoins. It works the same as a CFD, so beware it is very very risky.
One day you can have profit, the next day you need to answer your margin call.

Our exchange with "plain vanilla" options (put and call options, european style, cash settled) and futures.

Please visit https://www.deribit.com/main#/options (https://www.deribit.com/main#/options) to see the orderbook of all strikes and expiration dates. In the future we will be adding expirations further away. I know of no other exchange with a decent platform currently offering plain vanilla options on bitcoin.

By the way, there is currently 1 market maker on the platform, we hope to find more traders who would like to be marketmaker on the platform.

IDS option is a binary option you can use. It is safe and easy to use and they have an ongoing signature campaign at present so you might just check them out.

I have looked for options in the past too. Unfortunately no such legit sites exist. Even if you are able to buy an option for bitcoin, which I doubt anyone would offer, then being paid out if you were to earn millions from it is unlikely. Also the options for bitcoin offered will be very short term, from a week or 2. Over a month is too risky for any seller.

There are many sites now offering Options trading but you need to do your homework as not all of them are legit. Secondstrade does offer option trading and it is very reputable too! :)

The reason that people is "Buying Bitcoins" is that they want to earn some profit with it and keep on spending to see higher value of bitcoin in future. When this happens I will sell all my bitcoins and go with life without bitcoin.

Thanks for your suggestions. I looked into secondstrade but instead of allowing to buy options it only allowed me to bet on the price for the next second. More like a gambling game and not a site to buy options. They do mention options in their FAQ, but I couldn't see any place on the site where it traded options.

Either idsoption or secondtraer are good choices since they offer alternatives besides the price of Bitcoin. There are other sites available but they often require verification similar to forex brokers which may put some people off.
Never heard of idsoption and as for secondstrade check my previous post.
Giving your information to the forex brokers is no risk. Options can amount to large amounts of money, and I would rather have it done through a legal company then a random bitcoin exchange which isn't licensed.

Currently on www.deribit.com you can trade (vanilla european style) options up till 3 months out (quarterly). In the market you can either buy or sell, as an example..the current market for a 30 september 700 call is 42dollar bid - 46 dollar ask. Though you wont be able to do huge quantities on those prices, as the market is still not very liquid. (marketmaker is quoting for 2 options on all strikes, after that quote becomes slightly worse., though bigger trades can be negotiated of course in the chat, or by simply placing your bid/ask in the orderbook.

Coinut has been running options for something like a year now. I'm not aware of many others. I recently saw ads for a site called Deribit, which apparently offers vanilla-style options, but I have no idea how safe or reliable the services are.

Caveat emptor, as they say. None of these services are gonna be particularly "legit."

I am also looking for such service in broader sense. I couldn’t find any upfront service which directly allows us to put orders on specific price triggers but I think we can do this with bots but I am not sure about it. There are many sites who provide personalized bot service but I haven’t tried any of them yet. I think if crypto currency creators can use bots for pump & dump schemes then why we can’t use it for our regular trade?

The above mentioned sites aren't exactly for options.

I believe its because bitcoin is volatile, so anyone selling options is probably taking a lot of risk specially because he could be giving these away in bulk.

Actually there are some good options out there but main question remains as they are not going to give you and me the chance to earn something worth our efforts.
But you should know it's a gamble and you could lose easily.

to me IDS system will be the best, as they are currently running a signature campaign therefore they are more reliable and trusted, i think you should better check and hope you will find it the best.

Well, its fairly new. I don't want to trust them right now as buying options could lead to swings of 1000's of dollars and its important to be sure of the source you buy them from.

I haven't done binary trading on idsoption and i think they are also quite new to put trust on. But i have tried secondstrade.com and like their no account registration terms as well as their auto withdraw and play without transaction getting confirmed is really nice feature. However i would suggest not to take high risk in binary trading they are just like gambling.
