Title: Views on Bitcoin Improvement Proposal (BIP) Post by: Nevis on July 01, 2016, 02:23:09 AM The hottest topic on the net right now is the Rise of BIP 75 or Bitcoin Improvement Proposal. It aims to let the sender or receiver reveals its identity to both parties. They say that it will solve the issue on anti-money laundering. This is what I am waiting for to make transactions more secure and to lessen the scammer of bitcoin online. In this case, I would like to ask your opinion on this. Would you agree or not and why?
Title: Re: Views on Bitcoin Improvement Proposal (BIP) Post by: Jhanzo on July 01, 2016, 02:27:23 AM I don't really like it. IMO if it gets implemented it won't be long before services asks for our identity before processing deposits. Then you can kiss your anonymity good bye.

This is good news to bitcoin users all around the globe though many debates will came and tackle this things but soon it will still just occur. This will bring a good sign to say goodbye to hackers and scammers. Annonymousity which everyone claims to be important is nothing but a waste, if we don make illegal transactions then we dont have to fear. Its time for this technology to kick in the industry. I agree with those saying it's bad for the anonymity of btc, so I'm a bit against this stuffTitle: Re: Views on Bitcoin Improvement Proposal (BIP) Post by: serjent05 on July 18, 2016, 03:03:11 PM The hottest topic on the net right now is the Rise of BIP 75 or Bitcoin Improvement Proposal. I very much agree on this proposal. Only those who have not good enough intention wanted to dwell in anonymity. This proposition will make Bitcoin economy healthy in a sense that more users will embrace Bitcoin. Merchant won't have a second thought about accepting bitcoin as payment too because government will support this crypto and so it will be governed by law.Title: Re: Views on Bitcoin Improvement Proposal (BIP) Post by: pereira4 on July 18, 2016, 03:10:22 PM This is against Bitcoin principle of bitcoin being digital cash. When you transact cash with someone you don't know who the person is. We don't need this and certainly not at a protocol level, this will only destroy bitcoin's privacy. BIP75 is trash and will never happen.

Thanks but no thanks! If I wanted to reveal my identity I could use my creditcard or a bank transfer instead of Bitcoin. Title: Re: Views on Bitcoin Improvement Proposal (BIP) Post by: helloeverybody on July 18, 2016, 03:38:02 PM This could be useful, To be honest this is the first ive every heard of it. To me it would be useful if it was optional though. I wouldnt want to be forced into revealing my identity since half the reason why bitcoin is what it is is due to it being semi anonymous.

It might stimulate development and use of decentralized exchanges, so actually might be usefull. I mean finally incentive to abandom using centralized services requesting this identity. They say that it will solve the issue on anti-money laundering. Is there any provable way to provide real identity at all, because currently governmens dont mantain public ledger of identities where you can sign and prove it is really you. So you can fake the identity and the services cannot confirm your true identity anyway. Or how the Bitcoin Improvement Proposal 75 deals with this problem. Title: Re: Views on Bitcoin Improvement Proposal (BIP) Post by: Kprawn on July 18, 2016, 05:07:56 PM Bitcoin's pseudo-anonymity gives you the same level of anonymity as you might get with cash, why would you want to change that? If everyone had access to each others financial details and their
transaction history, nobody would want to use Bitcoin. The Blockchain holds that information at the moment, and if that is linked to your identity, all your private transactions will be revealed to the world. If you bought say, condoms at your corner shop with bitcoins and you do not want people to know about that, it should be your decision. Why do the rest of the world need to know how many condoms you buy every week for instance. ??? Some things are just private and your financial matters are one of them. ;) |
