Title: Seems like PPC is a looser?
Post by: ehoffman on March 15, 2013, 08:07:29 PM
Well, I had hope for it the last 2 days.  buy/sell has raise to .00037/.00048.  However, the last few hours, there seem to have more people who have abandoned ship (dumped) at .00037 that there is who bought at .00048.

It's still profitable to mine though...  Just not worth buying/stocking in hope that the price will rise soon...

I declare it dead only after 6 months of flatline.

Yup, only the last 2 days have been "hopefull".  I have to admit that I saw them as DOA since it's creation though  :D

As far as can tell the source code for PPC has not been proven to have fixed the exploit and not created anymore exploits in the POS algorithm.

Given Sunny's unwillingness to discuss his design I have assumed it is still a broken system. Proceed with caution.

A quick view of sunny's thread looks to me he has a great deal of technical knowledge, pp coin volume is increasing, doesnt the sticky call ppcoin "very innovative". I think more people are diversifying into alt coins I see this trend continuing. Negative talk about any altcoin lately seems to be a contrarian indicator.

Contrarian talkers mostly dont use facts.

I'm basing what I say on the facts that PPC code is broken, has not been proven to fix further exploits that may have been added while fixing the initial one (if even that).

But please buy all you want. =)

PPCoin would be much more popular if it had been named differently.

yes, but PPCoin is actualy the most innovative alt by a huge gap.
POS is big thing, not just some parameters nibbling
diff adjustment is perfect , when everything else has shitty adjudstment.

but you bash it just like everything else.

Is it supposed to mean peer to peer? , I get the immediate picture PP paints from a western world standpoint. Would be interested to know if china etc see PP in as an amusing light.

All current cryptocurrencies are peer to peer (except Ripple which is de facto centralized)

Ah yes......... I meant is that exactly what the PP stands for in PPcoin  ;D there an amount of chuckling about it being pee pee I believe .

If a guy was sat on a number of Bitcoin that he bought for say £3 each and he didn't want to exchange for fiat.

Which move would be the wisest -

1, keep them all in Bitcoin.
2 keep some bitcoin and buy PPcoin (eg. 10btc for 25,000ppcoin)

Is this not what's happening ?

It's a P with double bar, like the double bars of BTC or dollar sign.  I guess they just went fancy and put it outside...  :)

Well in Chinese, P means fart.  P-P together means butt.

I am not sure the origin of the word buttcoin on this forum, but it's what PPCoin reads there.

Disclaimer: I have nothing against PPCoin, it just has a funny name.

I remember when the name iPad raised eyebrows but I doubt it does now then there's Nintendo wii, but I do agree it's a unusual choice of name.

PP also means "pretty" in Chinese, more than fart.

And every knows what Pee-Pee means!

Only a child would laugh at this.

On this subject though I came across a music related website named mp3shitter.com a while back, now that made me laugh.

Didn't imply that it was funny...  Just that it's a childish name for a coin.  It doesn't make it very serious. :)

I love me some 7k PPCs at .00044

PPCs are great because they are not merged with bitcoin. It makes them a great alternate coin when bitcoin gets too difficult to mine. I cant wait until a bitcoin is $50k i will buy a lake house with my PPCs!

That's assuming PPCs still worth .00044 when we reach this point.  If it goes higher when BTC are $50K, then you win big!  However, if it's worth 0.00000044, then you will be able to get you a nice used bicycle to go to your 'I-have-kept-my-fortune-in-bitcoins' friend's lake house  ;D
