Bitspend has had an awesome first week bringing purchasing freedom to bitcoin owners, giving our community the ability to buy anything, anywhere, anytime. The orders have been flooding in with a 99% success rate. The 1% of issues had nothing to do with Bitspend but rather with the merchants not being able to ship certain items to the client.

Orders have come in from Australia, Canada, Germany, South Africa, Japan, United States and more. Site traffic is very high, we've had to increase our bandwidth at least 4 times already.

The funniest story from this week now that you mention it: a gentleman sent us his grocery list. I'm sure he was trying to push us to the limit but it worked perfectly. We received his list of items, we ordered them for him and they were delivered on time. With some of our coming tools this will become even more easy. We couldn't be more thrilled with how things are going.

Can you use 3rd party escrow with BitSpend?

As of now no.  We know your trust is the hardest thing we have to earn as a company, but we are off to a great start.  Over $7,000 in orders have been placed with us this first 5 days!!  We have an open-office policy, meaning anyone can come by our South Florida office and say hi or even ask about Bitcoins(see our address and location on the contact us page on our site). 

We operate as transparent and open as possible, so we can earn the trust of the Bitcoin community.  If you are in FL, come by :)

I don't get the product.  It's not clear for your ringing endorsement of your own business or your web site.  It looks like you shop for a fee.  Maybe you should have a "How it works" page.

Are there other businesses that do this?  Do they make money?  I've never heard of it except for wealthy people who need their time for things other than shopping.

I apologize if it isn't clear to you--maybe we need to do some work on that on our end to better clarify for those who do not know what site they are visiting.  For the most part, those who visit us know exactly what they are there... to buy anything, from any website, using your Bitcoins as payment :)

Any chance for Gamestop gift cards??? Or Moneypaks?

We're intentionally avoiding any and all "gift cards" right now, until we have 100% legal clearance to do so, as there is a big grey area there when it comes to the Anti-Money Laundering laws, and we in no way want to violate any law which could threaten our otherwise legitimate business.

In the future, when(if) our attorneys give us the go on that, we will offer it :)

That is on you home page only 33% of the time.  I totally missed it.  Because it's part of a display that keeps changing I ignored it while looking elsewhere for a description.

Don't get us wrong, we love the constructive criticism, it lets us improve our service to you.  While the majority of those who visit Bitspend know why they are there, you have a great point.  We will work to make it more clear what our service is "in a nutshell", on a more prominent area of the main page.

That doesn't mean you cannot just order the game itself from Gamestop through Bitspend!  Heck, let us know what game you want to pre-order, and we will put it through for you as your first Bitspend purchase and we will waive the normal fee :)

VERY GREAT to hear this is working... shame it wasn't last week, when I was wracking my brain on how to buy an airfare with bitcoin I remembered the site that could buy whatever I wanted with bitcoin. Couldn't remember the name, put the question up in reddit and sure enough somebody linked me. Dammit though, site was down. I wanted to see if you could book a flight from Melbourne to Peru. Would you have been able to do it? Too late now, I'm leaving tomorrow. Flights would be a great thing to be able to pay for with bitcoin.

Some of my SecondLife friends started selling game cards in SecondLife for Linden dollars.  I know you can probably find somebody here to exchange bitcoins for lindens, then you could buy the cards from them.  I don't know if they are still doing it.  The project was experimental about a year ago and they keep getting banned from SL for shooting people with penises.  I haven't seen them in a while.  If you want to look them up they are known as Woodbury.

Is there an estimate when the site is going to be back online?

I'm hoping to see this back online as well.

I've had purchases rejected so many times, probably because I don't reside in the US. Even if the destination address is in the US and the card is issued by a US bank, payments get declined, even Paypal payments.

We are working diligently to get our new site squared away. We hope to be back up the first week of April with some fantastic features. We will keep everyone posted as our launch date nears!

Do you think you can accept litecoins too?

At this point in time we have no plans to include litecoins. Bitcoins is a proven currency with many owners eager for a place to purchase everyday items. If we change that policy, we'll certainly let everyone know ;-)

Yesterday I was finally able to contact the bitspend guys and my problem was resolved very quick. Now I'm waiting for my stuff to arrive :).

2 days and no aswer, for any of the sources... no mail, no btctalk, no twitter, i'm not trusting you...

Realise there's probably a very obvious answer, and I'm going to ask anyway - what would I need for people to be able to pay me in fiat and have bitspend convert that money to bitcoin? I don't want to provide a service or product, just want to be able to convert fiat to BTC. Is that possible already?? Have checked coinbase out, that sounds great however it doesn't work in Australia (yet).

Now that is what I call customer service. It would be funny if this took off as the primary way Bitspend was used, good bye business model.

    Do you know their full name?  Yes, you can look for the LLC data and see Santiago and Justin full names
    Do you know where they are located? For the LLC Yes, For their office, maybe, they publish an address. Anybody can.
    Have they demonstrated trustworthiness in the past?  Not yet, their company is one month old, userid is also recent.
    Are they asking you to trust them? (red flag) Yes: No escrow, you should trust them because they say they have sell $7000 already
    Do they have insurance? Nope

If you are legit, solve the escrow thing first. Then we can begin to talk

That's the first rule for a scammer.

They don't need to seem honest. They need to prove it: Escrow.

Doesn't prove anything anyone can rip off anyone.

And the first rule of any honest businessperson.

Their customers speak for themselves.

Congrats on the success (even if you got a bit too much of it). Services like this are EXACTLY what the bitcoin community needs and we should be supportive.

How does an RMA work, that is if, an RMA is needed, how does an RMA work, if you guys place the order?

Example:

I buy something from newegg, through bitspend, the product arrives DOA, then I have to RMA the product.
