Title: Mining on an Intel Xeon Phi
Post by: KMCoinenen on March 16, 2013, 04:20:39 AM
http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/processors/xeon/xeon-phi-detail.html

I tried searching around to see if anyone knows the hash rate of this thing, but it doesn't seem like it's known yet.  We just got one of these at work though so I'll be able to test it out soon.  Any idea how to actually run a miner on one of these?  Are there any existing mining programs that will work?

The Xeon Phi was discussed here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=88407 (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=88407).  The conclusion was that it would have similar performance to that of an AMD GPU, making it not worth the pricetag. I haven't seen any mining software for the Xeon Phi.

i ported Pooler's cpuminer to Intel Xeon Phi and published the code at https://github.com/kiyominer/cpuminer

you can refer to https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=88407.msg5932213#msg5932213 for some more detailed information

Cheers,

that would be great to 'mine' ripple xrp.

anyway, to learn more about ripple, read here:  http://coinjoint.info/ripple-might-want-pay-attention/ and there are intros and guides here:  https://xrptalk.org/forum/61-faq-and-guides/

xrp 'mining' can be done via computing for good: https://www.computingforgood.org/

here's a guide about it: https://xrptalk.org/...uting-for-good/

good luck. :)
