Title: When can we buy fried chickens with bitcoin.
Post by: groll on July 04, 2016, 04:46:40 AM
With many theories and probability streaming over the worldwide media, bitcoin was foreseen to be the future legal tender in the international market in the near future. But the question is when will it happen. In the Philipines using a third party company the so-called coins.ph will allow you to pay electric bills, water bills, telecommunications billing. This small event show the potential future of bitcoin as an international legal tender. Soon we buy fired chickens with bitcoin.

Bitcoin was never meant to buy your daily groceries or fried chicken. It doesn't have the basic characteristics to become a normal currency like USD. Bitcoin is an alternate investment route and one should treat bitcoin like that only.

Invest for a long time and you can make your dreams come true. If you spend your bitcoin for buying your daily stuff, I'm sure you will regret one day for sure.

I think your are wrong. It is not meant for investment. It is a completely digital money. It is the first decentralized peer-to-peer payment network that is powered by its users with no central authority or middlemen. From a user perspective, bitcoin is pretty much like cash for the Internet.

As i said bitcoin is a POTENTIAL legal tender. It may not be possible today but there is a high possibility that in the future bitcoin will be able to be accepted even in the small stores in exchange for goods. There are online sellers on facebook who accepts bitcoin as payment for their products (perfume, shoes, accessories etc.). This are small accomplishments of bitcoin but it is very promising that someday fastfoods will accept bitcoin as mode of payments. That way I can pay my fried chicken with bitcoins.

Who says that, please quote your source. The Bitcoin white paper calls it a A Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash System, not an alternative investment option. ^hmmmmm^ Satoshi never meant for people to hoard all their coins and wait for the price to rise, and to make profits from that, it was a cash system. What do you use cash for? Daily groceries and friend chicken. ^smile^

Yes, you are correct by definition. It is a decentralized and peer to peer electronic currency. I too agree that there are many small service providers who accepts bitcoin as payment for their services.

However, lets do a small calculation: (assume, bitcoin price is now $675.00)

Today if you buy a fried chicken platter for $20 so as per bitcoin current price, you paid 0.03 BTC to the seller.

Now after some day, bitcoin price rose to $795 (which actually happened few days back)...so your 0.03 BTC is valued at $23.85. So you are making a loss of 13.85 USD on a single bitcoin platter.

In this context I said, it is better to restrain yourself from buying daily groceries using bitcoin and store if for a better time. Instead use your fiat do all these things.

The number of companies taking Bitcoin is growing worldwide. Slowly but surely Bitcoin spread despite all the contradictions and misunderstandings that arise between users cryptocurrency and state institutions.
For example, in my country in the bistro you can buy a sandwich for Bitcoins https://cryptochan.org/subway-v-rossii-prinimaet-bitkoin-k-oplate/

I agree with this , as bitcoin price varies continuously it may not  be very useful to buy groceries etc.  currently only paying bills for mobile currency etc is allowed , but in future there may be some method comes to use the bitcoin for buying even groceries . Holding bitcoin and selling to normal currency when bitcoin price goes is high is preferable :)

Anyone who holds bitcoin is susceptible to volatility. That is just the nature of bitcoin, at least up until now because it is a fairly new form of currency. I wouldn't put too much in a local exchange as we've seen many exchangers that encountered problems. Better to put your precious bitcoins in a wallet that's secured.

using bitcoin to buy groceries has 2 bebenfits
1. you can rely on bitcoin to live, without having to "cash out" back to fiat just to live. simply by buying things with bitcoin
2. you do not need to spend every 'bit'.. instead think of it as 'savings' eg spend 50% save 50%.. by the time you reach retirement you have lived a happy life USING bitcoin and also SAVED enough bitcoin to continue living a happy life

unlike fiat with its low/negative interest and inflationary nature that LOSES you value if you hoard.

in short dont 100% hoard. dont 100% spend. find the right balance to live off bitcoin today, so you can live off bitcoin in the future..

bitcoins are way more profitable in my opinion, that is the best thing to be honest and we never need to transfer our money into fiat if we want to make the transactions be safer

i think there might be people that would actually help you to make such orders for bitcoins, you would give them bitcoins and they would buy you what you actually want for it

That's a bunch of bullshit.

BTC is and can be used just as USD is today with fiat currency.

The only difference is it's hard to explain to your average person that BTC has value.. All they see is magical computer numbers.
Really though. To say BTC is any less currency than USD is foolish in my opinion.

So you are a filipino i think you just need to wait for the stores or fast food chain from that country to start to know about bitcoin and also accept it as a secondary currency. If you ask me, bitcoin just need at least 2 to 4 years to be start being accept by the stores around the world because bitcoin is slowly getting popularity year after year.

Since coins.ph has lots of supported merchants locally, maybe they will considered to make a partnership or deal with some of the restaurants here that accepts online placement of orders.

It is possible the way that coins.ph is. Just need some request and demands by it's clients.

I think it may already be possible somewhere. For example, take a look on this website: https://bitdazzle.com/results?q=chicken
They don't have fried chickens here, but they do have some stuff with chicken and other food you can buy with BTC)
As for being able to pay with btc in shops - I think we need about 10 years in developed countries for that

Bitcoin has a long way to go now. It is not being popular at food companies till yet. I think first of all , all the multinational companies should support the bitcoins and then everyone will follow them and introduce bitcoins in their businesses.

I totally agree with you, but the whole initial buzz about bitcoin was that it was going to be a great currency.   Remember the 10,000 btc for pizza?  And then it turned into a straight up speculation tool and no one wants to spend a deflating currency.   At least you come out and say it and call it like it is.

If Bitcoin is perceived as a true currency, you will be able to buy anything with it directly. I think it is not really advisable to use a third party for bitcoin payments. Those intermediaries add costs and delays to what would otherwise be a flawless payment process. It might be thinkable that the use of third party payments providers that convert Bitcoin to fiat to execute purchases is actually hurting Bitcoin adoption, because the advantages of Bitcoins are crippled in the process.

Therefore, whenever possible try to make direct Bitcoin purchases. A great leap forward would be the acceptance of Bitcoin by the primary industrial sector. This would lay the foundation for direct b2b payments which is a prerequisite for direct Bitcoin acceptance from customers, because companies would be able to use Bitcoin revenues as working capital without fiat conversion.

ya.ya.yo!

The same thing happens with other currencies too my friend, only in smaller increments and over a longer period. As Bitcoin mature and get distributed amongst more people, it will become less

volatile. The opposite is also true, when the price drops.... you would be buying that chicken for a bargain price. The main thing is.... if you bought Bitcoin today for $650 and you bought that chicken

that same day, it would not deviate that much.... you could wait for the price to increase and then buy 2 for the price of one.  ;D ;D ;D

Dude, this is a two way hand street.... you example could be just like:
Quote
Today if you buy a fried chicken platter for $20 so as per bitcoin current price, you paid 0.03 BTC to the seller.

Now after some day, bitcoin price FALL to $595 (which actually happened few days back)...so your 0.03 BTC is valued at $17.85 .

and the conclusion would be diferent.

Soon we buy fired chickens with bitcoin.

where i live there are coffeterias which accept btc. unfortunately you can only buy some vege food and fancy coffees and not fried chickens :)

I think we already can buy friend chickens with bitcoin if you have bitcoin debit card.
Even though we still use 3rd service, that's better than nothing.
When I read your thread, I felt as what kind of question is it. With money we can buy anything we need. We do not have any option to use BTC in my country. But of course I can exchange the BTC to my currency and buy so many kgs of chicken.

Bitcoin was never meant to buy your daily groceries or fried chicken. It doesn't have the basic characteristics to become a normal currency like USD. Bitcoin is an alternate investment route and one should treat bitcoin like that only.

Yes maybe we should use bitcoin as an investment but how long you would wait until your dreams come true ? Since you are still waiting for that to happen why not use a few of it just to fill your cravings of fried chicken . This is not a bad Idea atleast you have use it in a good way and because it is a digital currency it should also be considered and treated as a money that can be used for daily life .

I think bitcoin is not use only for investing it can be use also to transfer money or buy something online.. but more people are adopting bitcoin so buying locally will be happen and i think here in philippines it will happen.. and i think 7/11 can accept bitcoin as payment in the future.. because they are already accepting money for depositing to bitcoin i think they will use it too to buy something in 7/11 store using bitcoin..

KFC doens't look a company which will go first. They will wait what Mac or BK does. So we should lobby with Mac to accept bitcoin.
In a way it isn't a bad idea. Bitcoin > Young People, Young People > Macdonalds. They could easily earn good money by start accepting it.

you can buy CHIKUNS (litecoin) with bitcoin and use them; they confirm much faster and at around $4 per piece, are better suited for daily transactions.

Well you can buy fried chickens in bitcoin I think.  ;D You just need to convert it into fiat first then you are good to go. Buy as many as you want not just chickens but also many things.
Yah. Is there any special conditions are there to buy a fried chicken? I usually buy all kind of things if i have money. i do not think a sales man would expect anything other than money.

Acceptance is super lousy, it´s true. Most merchants do not even know what Bitcoin is. It has been around for years but no, people still want old fashioned fiat scamcoins. Sometimes I feel like I´m in the wrong universe; too many retards everywhere.  :(

A few more banks going belly up, and more negative interest, could change that.  ;D

Purchase a Gyft card, purchase a Walmart card via Gyft with that, and purchase all the fried chicken you can eat without stroking out.

That was easy. And sounds delicious.
