What the fuck is "a great job in computers"?

So if someone logs into IRC, scams. Comes back 2 months later with a different IRC name, but on the same computer, you can still tell it's the scammer?

How do you do this, and can it be done for Skype too?

It's quite obvious on how this is done - but I won't give any details away.  ;)

Details? I could probably just look it up ^.^   , I'm interested because there's a site I'm on with people who try to imposter others Skype's, and it'd be cool if there was a way to catch them even if they changed IP's etc.

Is it only based on IP?

This whole idea of 'getting back' is a rat's nest of problems.

I'm not sure how I feel on this, it 'might' curb scammers or it 'might' teach them to evolve.

In my view money exchangers should ideally be completely neutral, let others deal with scammers. Just protect the transaction as best as possible to prevent the scam. I.E. Say sorry: "No, deal."

As soon as the money exchanger starts to take sides, Trust as a money exchanger is put in question as to whether one's word is good. I.E. Sure lets do the deal, Oh but wait, you're a scammer, sorry but I'll just keep your money. That will be used as a scam of its own.


BCB, just my opinion, you did a good job at detecting the problem but I would have then kicked it to 'others' to speak on the situation. Keeping your neutrality intact. 

I.E. Bernie gets out of Jail and buys some Apple Stock, the exchange says: "Sorry, you bum you ripped off everyone, we're going to keep your money" He then goes to the grocery store to buy food but the grocery store keeps his money and doesn't give him food.

There should be a penalty for scamming but where does that penalty stop?
