Title: Corporations and Bitcoin
Post by: Xiaoxiao on July 09, 2016, 02:42:23 AM
How do the big corps feel about bitcoin?  How will they feel about bitcoin?  We know they are intrigued by the underlying technology of bitcoin, the blockchain.  Please back up your claims.

As of this moment there are no news about company and their views on bitcoin but only the banking institutions have a say to this. But there is a certain company in UK where they are planning to give out salary to their employees using bitcoin. I'll give you the link next time it is from an article in bitcoin news.com

In my country, Bitcoin is really recognized already but I'm afraid of what they mean about "rules" and "regulating":

http://www.bworldonline.com/content.php?section=TopStory&title=bsp-readies-rules-for-virtual-money-crowdfunding&id=128609

It makes me think that involvement with corporations is far away from happening yet.

I think that as long as they can profit from it they will view Bitcoin as an ally, as means to expand and reach people who do not have access to cards/PayPal etc. Most of them are probably still weighing the risks while keeping a close eye on how things unfold. I doubt that any of those big corps would consider holding on to Bitcoin itself, so they need reliable/ insured/regulated third party processors to instantly convert Bitcoin they receive from their clients into Dollars. BitPay is slowly making a name for itself and so is Coinbase but at the level we're talking here, there are tons of legal kinks that need to be carefully analysed/studied and eventually ironed out before actual implementation happens and this is a slow process.

Big corporations may regret not accepting bitcoin in the time when the bitcoin price will skyrocket and these companies will feel like "how we let this opportunity get away from us". But for the moment many corporations don't care about bitcoins, with only few corporations accepting it but big ones like , Overstock, Dell and Microsoft to name a few and lately also Steam. This is good for bitcoin as is a big publicity for it from these companies. Anyway for the moment only few companies like the ones mentioned above look at bitcoin as an ally while almost all others are not interested in it yet.

I don't think it really matters what those big corps think, now or ever about bitcoin.
We have saw that all they have interest in is blockchain tech. They may enable us to pay for their products in BTC but I'm sure they wont hold on to them for to long. Quickly to the exchange they go.
Technology of BTC is a different story. Still open source, so they will chase that rabbit, to make a good use of it. Nothing wrong with that unless...
And here is the question, can this tech. could be used against us?

you don't need to think that someday paypal will use bitcoin because it was already happened, just see their recent  news, they having cooperation with coinbase and accepting bitcoin, now seems bitcoin can grow bigger with paypal rather than competing each other

At present, not only large companies accept cryptocurrency, but also small organizations, companies and online stores.
Bitcoin startups attracted maximum investments of all time, about one billion dollars.

Big corporations strive to earn bigger profits and if Bitcoin could give it to them and the demand for such a technology is there they will surely invest and implement Bitcoin & Blockchain technologies in their infrastructures. But in general all they care for is money so if there is not enough demand or interest on the part of their customers they may opt out of using Bitcoin at all. Microsoft for example was going to drop Bitcoin support in the Windows store probably due to not enough interest from buyers.

I think the big corps are all related in some way or will be more and more connected.  It's just like the global economy; the markets are all connected.  That's why I grouped them together.

They think Bitcoin is a joke, No Big company here in my country is into Bitcoin.  They never advertise or pay their stuff with bitcoin.  Even manager of legit MLM company don't even consider Bitcoin as form of their payment.  Why did I know? Because I asked them and they replied face to face that they are more comfortable using a secured mode of payment feature of Banks and Paypal.  But well they are to accept if somehow Bitcoin pass some of their standard but as of now sadly it didn't.

Lots of poor answers in this thread.  Nearly no one gave thought into how will the corporations receive bitcoin in the future.  Bitcoin's expansion depends on this.  The corporations are all connected.  Ownership is inter-swapped.  We're in a global economy now.  This is why world markets follow each other.

Indeed, though majority of the company here in my country are not adopting the system of bitcoins. But few of the corporation company I know are absorving the system of bitcoin. Some are establishing the company which is related to bitcoins but only seeking for a victim of cthe client and then they will use bitcoin for the bad habit or intentions.

In my country there is no breaking news about big corps to adopt bitcoin.  They are still confident with the country's monetary system.  They only see some trouble or need a major adjustment if they are to adopt Bitcoin as currency.  These company are more on stable and government compliant system.  Maybe the owner are playing with bitcoin by themselves but they see thatt implementing bitcoin to their company will only make them spend money.

give the boost that it needs in this current time. Many people will come to know it's potential.

Companies that wants to accept Bitcoin as a currency, are waiting for more mature regulations regarding it's status. Some of them are saying it is still too small and others are saying that it is poorly

regulated and this add to the risk factors. These companies are interested, but they are cautious. They are also looking at what are being done in the banking sector regarding Blockchain based tech, and

most of them will follow whatever comes from these sectors, because they know it will be backed by governments. I have spoken to employees working in some of these companies and also a

investment banker at one of the bigger banking groups.  :( .... They also said that they will fall in with Bitcoin, if it attracts enough users to be a viable market.  ::)

Working for a larger company, I know that we do not deal with anything in Bitcoin because of the US governments classification of Bitcoin.  The USA still considers Bitcoin an asset and not a currency.  Because of this, banks can not take bitcoin because they are not allowed to be invested into an asset that they  actually own and not loaning money out on.  Because of this reason, our company stays away from bitcoin.

That's the problem of larger companies. They follow anything they are forced to do, even if it is wrong. The banks did bring a effective anti bitcoin lobby with scare tactics and the whole package. In time small companies using bitcoin, will be followed by larger companies using bitconi.

From there there is no way to lobby anymore...

In my opinion corporations are similar to governments, there is just difference that government is public and many things they do are visible to everyone. What corporations are doing nobody know, they are everywhere, hidden between many different names. With offices in many countries, nobody can catch what are they doing. Who knows maybe Satoshi Nakamoto is corporation product, I wouldn't be surprised if we see that news in future. They are capable for many things, they proven that. And in case that they are not already in bitcoins from the start, then they will enter for sure, on some big door with some totally new coin.

Other than those advantages of bitcoin and blockchain applications, the force from their employees for their salary in bitcoin will make remarkable chances in their standing about bitcoins. This seems about right. Financial institutions etc are taking an interest as they should(bitcoin directly affects their business in a lot of cases) but for other big companies outside of this it'll only become a concern once bitcoin becomes a worldwide mainstay of commerce or business. Apple for example won't be interested in bitcoin clients/tech for their devices until it becomes big, like they didn't really care about credit cards until they got big and then they did Apple Pay.

Yeah the high volatility of bitcoin has something to do why big corporation are very hessitant to use it, Instead they can just issue a clone or fork of bitcoin and create a close economy where they can use it as payment for their employees.  I know someone  alreardy used this kind of strategy with fiat money.

Big corps are interested with bitcoin like technology.  But I think they choose to stay away from bitcoin itself.  Reason is if they did not choose then they should have implemented staff that is related to bitcoin as  processors.  Anyway some industry that tried bitcoin are just for business purpose only, they see that accepting bitcoin can cover those enthusiast and can be their client.

Actually, now that you mention it, some cyber-security and similar firms might be taking an interest in the blockchain, maybe as a new way to manage information flow? Layers of security? I don't know for sure, but it seems like the blockchain could have a lot of potential for use in other industries, and maybe they're already looking into it.

Maybe the corporations in your country really fear cryptocurrencies and is using their influence in politics to push for regulations to gain control of it. But they don't understand the technology fully so they need to surpress and undermine it for now. Cryptocurrencies empower the people so much and they don't like it. They like to oppress people and making themselves richer in the process.

In my country, Bitcoin is really recognized already but I'm afraid of what they mean about "rules" and "regulating":

http://www.bworldonline.com/content.php?section=TopStory&title=bsp-readies-rules-for-virtual-money-crowdfunding&id=128609

It makes me think that involvement with corporations is far away from happening yet.

That is too good for a newbie. I think you have been here for quite a while. What you are saying can be true. If you have a kingdom would you want people to have power in terms of monetary? I dont it will be good for your kingdom for they can leave you and create their own that will be against you.

Corporations are exist to make profit for some group of people. They are in everything around us, in every little store, shop, company, bank, government. I suspect they are in bitcoin already, but like everything they do its covered with secret.
They earn money on everything, who knows maybe this fluctuations in bitcoin are done with help of some corporations, we know they have money and human power to do what ever they wish.

I also sometime think that they are in bitcoin already, we are seeing some copies of some bigger business with bitcoin , I think that are from those big companies and they are testing the technology of bitcoin and I hope sooner they will adopt bitcoin for their bigger companies also. No other things like growth threatening or anything else are possible in my view.

How do the big corps feel about bitcoin?  How will they feel about bitcoin?  We know they are intrigued by the underlying technology of bitcoin, the blockchain.  Please back up your claims.

Here in our country we already have a company where you can cashout, pay bills, load prepaid cell airtime and they are very popular, many companies are looking forward to integrate the bitcoin technology ,because they knew it is the future..

Which country is that might I ask.
I always have thought it was not possible to do such things yet. It must be a first world country to be able to maintain doing this with a large customer base such as the utility areas are in any country.

i hope that in the future more and more companies will be accepting bitcoin in the future
You are not wrong, but if you notice you will find that the companies have already started to join bitcoin and are adopting it as the payment system for their users to purchase with it and are doing any transaction with bitcoin.

Some little companies that has younger owners and some huge corporations accept it BUT the best is yet to come, there will be a time where even that old shop in the corner will accept it . That is the next logical step, we all have smartphones and you can download wallets there and buy/sell stuff thanks to it. A LOT more shops than 2012 do it now, a lot more will do it in 2020 , its only higher from now on , with laws and taxes on bitcoin , its getting more and more legit and I don't see how it will go down.

As of this moment there are no news about company and their views on bitcoin but only the banking institutions have a say to this. But there is a certain company in UK where they are planning to give out salary to their employees using bitcoin. I'll give you the link next time it is from an article in bitcoin news.com
This is good, that means that more and more people are going to be aware of bitcoin.

This sound interesting and good, cause it will give btc the opportunity to be known by all...

Since more people will own bitcoin and more people will know about it, the price will go higher as well, just if this 'hacks' and scams of some companies wouldn't happen we could have seen bitcoin steady over 1000$ for the past year. With zen and bitfinex and cryptsy and many more the price went lower , thats not a bitcoin problem , that was a company problem, I am sure it will go higher and many corporations will adopt it.

Here in my country, few stablishments are accepting bitcoin. But i think the bitfinex controversy makes a negative impact to bitcoin. This tragedy destroying bitcoin right now. But i hope many companies and corporations will be interested to this. Bitcoin will be the popular digital currency if that happens. Other countries banned bitcoin and other countries are not using bitcoin. Hope to see them using this currency in the future.
