Title: Bitcoin mining at 2.0 mhash/s
Post by: uSploit on March 19, 2013, 11:49:48 AM
Hello, bitcoin forum members.

I am new to bitcoin mining, got an account on slush pool.
Installed the wallet the gui miner and entered all the info requested.

Whit everything set up i though it would work flawless.
Now that went a little the other direction.

When i started the GUIMiner whit my worker details it only gives me 2.0 mhash/s.
Which is very low because some get up to 400 even more.

My graphics card:
AMD Radeon dual graphics a8-3550MX APU HD Graphics 2.00GHZ

Now is it me or is that a bad graphics card for mining or did i do something wrong.
I also used the flag -v or --vectors but that did not work out as well.

I also noticed some people have 7 CPU affinity.
I have only 3. My miner sais device: [0-0] amd a8-3550 and so on... So i got my graphics card selected.

Any ideas i hope its not buying another graphics card :D

Greetings uSploit!

there's no point in mining with this speed. Also there is no point in mining with GPU, look up ASIC mining. Also if you want to jump on the train I suggest you buy BTC with cash on localbitcoins.com

I would buy btc hardware  but first try to make some out of this graphics card.
There is indeed no point in mining at that slow speed :(.

Thanks uSploit!

@@ edit oh i see.. So there is actually no way of me using this card hah :/

So if i buy ASIC miner hardware. Is it worthwile?
I mean bitcoins are pretty expensife at the moment so if i could mine em i would get a good amount of money?

I am willing to buy the hardware for it any ideas which is a good one. Not over 500$ please!

I thought about: BFL BitForce Jalapeno

For $150 you could buy one of these two things:
-BFL 'SC' Jalapeno (4,500 MH/s)
-(2) ATI Radeon 5830s (600 MH/s total)

As you can see, the new ASIC device that Butterfly Labs is producing is 7.5 times more efficient. Or in other words, 14 ATI Radeon 5830s would be the equivalent in hashing power as a one Jalapeno. And the Jalapeno can run off a few watts of power from your USB port. As opposed to the fourteen video cards which will be running you hundreds of dollars every month in electrical costs. Currently I think the only two companies that sell SHA256 (Bitcoin) ASIC technology are Avalon and Butterfly Labs. I think there may be another company that sells shares, but I can't remember their name at the moment.

Get yourself some ASIC tech from either BFL or Avalon. The GPU days are coming to an end.

Yeah, it will not be worth it in a week or two considering the asic's are being received.

So basically i want to buy the BFL jalapeno the 150$ one.
But as i found out they do not ship yet.

So as long as i havent seen any proof i cant really trust to buy one.
Waiting in advance.

Any way i got a AMD radeon dual graphics card A8-3550MX HD Graphics.
As i tried i only got 2.0 mhash/s from using that card. At that speed i would not even get 1btc a week.

When i buy:
4.5 GH/s Bitcoin Miner
BitForce Jalapeno

I would be getting 4.5 GH/s meaning 0.47 BTC a day. 14.19 a month which seams very reasonable and promassing.
I really hope butterfly labs does as promissed. I am thrilling to start mining :).

@@ Things i rather found strange. It takes long to build a block. about 10 minutes. Even whit a pool, would we be able to find blocks?
If these new devices mine that fast. And so many people are thrilling to use them. Bitcoins would raise in price and we would be getting them slower because of the difficulty going that high. Are am i just wrong at this point?

Greetings uSploit.

I'm not a miner but you just got me interested. 0.47 BTC a day with a 4.5GH/s? Really! how did you work that out? (sounds sarcastic, I don't mean to be).

Go to a calculator http://www.alloscomp.com/bitcoin/calculator
4.5 gh/s means 4500 mh/s When you input that in the calculator see the results :).

You see the results for the CURRENT difficulty. That difficulty is going to be much higher by the time you get any kind of ASIC miner.

Not as much as if you just used the money to purchase BTC directly.

Asket them about the shipment.
This means people who allready pre ordered. It should only take a few weeks.
If you want to pre order from today they say it would take up to june.
Lets see if its true and wait a few weeks. If some got there shipment i will buy it!

Hello uSploit,

We are not shipping product yet as we are still testing the chips. We are working to start shipping in the next couple weeks and have a backlog in the queue, so new pre-orders will likely ship sometime in June, sooner if possible.

Thanks for your interest in our products.
