Do you think that PlayStore for android phones should accept Bitcoin as a payment or AppStore for Iphone? Steam has no problem with Bitcoins, so why shouldn't PlayStore and AppStore use it? It can use BitPay like Steam and most sites that sell something online.
It would be great, but do you think it will happen?

the thing that makes appstore and playstore not yet to accept bitcoin because android have android pay and apple have apple pay,adding bitcoin will potentially threatening their services so they think better get away from it
just see some faucet getting banned from adsense few weeks ago which could gives you a clue why they don't accept bitcoin

I think the chances of Apple or Google accepting Bitcoin directly on their platforms are slim to none even if there is a huge demand for that because they have developed in-house solutions for digital payment apps and Bitcoin will be competing with their business which is not a good thing for them anyways. If you would like to use your Bitcoins to buy stuff on the app stores one way to do that is to buy gift cards from 3rd party vendors and input the voucher codes and get your account credited.

Well, that is not good for Bitcoin users. Is there any site where I can buy cheap PlayStore gift cards which accepts Bitcoin as a payment?

They should give the option to allow developers to accept payment in Bitcoins Well lets see what options they have. Lets say 30% of online commerce begin to be in bitcoin. And 60% is paypal/dollars, rest unknown. If they dont add bitcoin, thats 30% commerce they loose. Lets say 10% is dollars/paypal and 90% is bitcoin. I mean, they dont really have a choice in the end if bitcoin catches on

But if you see the above posts, you can see valid and good points, PlayStore and AppStore probably wont accept Bitcoin as a payment. But you can buy gift cards for PlayStore with Bitcoin on some sites. I don't know for AppStore though, I have never had an Iphone so I wouldn't know.

No I dont think they will accept bitcoin for a while, why do they need to promote another currency and another payment method whey google play has Google Wallet and apple store has Apple Pay. The alternative way is buying gift cards and then using in their market.

That is a good proposition. But google is skeptical about using a decentralized currency like bitcoin as of now.

Also the fluctuation in bitcoin price is also a matter of concern. So a proper price bench marking needs to be done before bitcoin is accepted in app store.

Another issue is that, you can't buy anything immediately with bitcoin payment as it takes time to get confirmed. So you will have to wait after making the payment until it gets confirmed. These are few road blocks.

Apple have Apple Pay or whatever the name is , so they will more then likely  won't do it .
Google in the other hand did n't show any interest in Bitcoin and crypto currencies in general so this is unlikely as well.

maybe gift card site in google did accept bitcoin but be sure to read the feedback before make a deal

because cryptoshit is a tiny niche market while Apple and Google are giants. more than that, 99,9% from those who use BTC,  have cards are well and they can use them.

These companies would rather use something developed by their own in-house developers than something that are not within their control. They use the ApplePay and Android solution, because they can improve and apply changes on their schedule, and they do not have to wait for a whole Bitcoin community to reach consensus on small issues to resolve problems. It's just about control and Ease of use and manageability. ^hmmmm^

For a minute their i thought Playstore are accepting bitcoin.  It would be great if they did but i don't see that coming anytime soon.  Its easy to get credit on Playstore as it is and bitcoin is still too much of a niche payment method to be used large scale.

i think it is not possible for now. google needs a refund service because it is stated in there terms. maybe someday it will be accepted if many people insist it. there are so many features of bitcoin that must improve.

This can be covered soon if we already have a crypto tied up to a currency at 1:1 ratio. Plus altcoins are way faster and almost instantaneous. These kind of things are the reason why Bitcoin won't be the king of crypto in the future.

im not sure google will add other payment method except android pay, but you can use 3rd service, like exchanger from bitcoin to playstore gift code.

Yeah bitcoin are continue upgrading their services and i think soon they will be adopted by playstore to be their mode of payment and i think more people will use bitcoin instead of their credit cards.

it would be a great thing of course, but for me personally there is not really a need for this sine i top up my account balance with gift cards that i receive digitally instantly. i think that google play store will be much earlier with adding bitcoin as payment option than apple with their app store. apple is a bit more harsh on bitcoin than google is when it comes to apps.

Well, perhaps, those faucets were banned because it is a spam site, plus they never like a website such as Bitcoin faucet after all.

I think it's naive to assume that Apple and Google aren't looking into Bitcoin. Whether they like what they see is another matter.

The payment processing thing is going to trip it up. To get into that market they'd need cast iron banking relationships. Bitcoin might threaten those relationships. Microsoft don't have anything to do with that so they had nothing to lose by taking it on.

i agree you have a great observation about it  . Steam has no issue about faucet at all , i also think that it is all about the anonymous feature which bitcoin gives that google really hates cause as i have know right now google might know you better than you think  am i right?  :D

No, google has huge and very serious business, every modules and etc that they have on their websites, is almost made by them, they are using their payment system and it's more safe to pay with bank and bank's card than bitcoin. Simply they don't want and need bitcoin, they are trying to promote their payment system.

I don't know what to say about appstore, I also don't think that itunes will accept this.

Maybe it could happen if we ask them to, just like what we did with Steam. Do you guys even know that before steam began to accept Bitcoin there were some topics here about asking Steam to accept Bitcoin, and several months later Steam started to accept Bitcoin.
So if we doing the same thing like what we did with Steam, maybe PlayStore will do the same thing like what Steam did.

Well, if that's true, then it indicates that bitcoin has begun received in some places. I think require some more time, so bitcoin could be accepted by the public. and it will surely make a good effect on the price of bitcoin, well, this will be very good if it makes bitcoin prices rose to $ 1,000.

Yes they should but I think most top companies are wait and watch mode (they are neither ignoring and nor showing interest) but I am sure soon digital goods like apps, movies will be available to purchase with digital currency. Sustainable growth will bring more watching groups inside it, price fluctuation is kind of risk. I think paypal will initiate the process of bitcoin transactions (when it comes to digital payment) as far as big established players are concerned.

I think and also will be very happy when they will start accepting bitcoin as payment method but i am not seeing this happening really soon. It may take few more years, but ultimately every big merchants like ebay, amazon, playstore, google adwords will start accepting bitcoin because as a payment processor with low fee and faster transaction it will be easy for every business to reach users globally without any limitation to certain country like with paypal and credit card payment.

I thnk playstore will accept bitcoin in the future.. for now they are not so aware about bitcoin that's why they are not still using bitcoin service instead for receiving money if someone buy some games or movies in playstore..

Back to OP's question.... In my opinion these companies see no real benefit to use Bitcoin, because it's transaction volumes are still relatively small and not mainstream yet.  ;)

For now i don't think so. Currently playstore and appstore already has efficent payment feature, beside efficient they also benefit from that.
Maybe in the future when Bitcoin goes mainstream and every people knows about Bitcoin. :)

Well, first off, Google and Apple aren't Steam, so it's not surprising that they aren't doing the same things.

Of course, it would be a great thing if they started to accept bitcoins as payment although it might take quite a while for them to do so since I don't think they are in favor of bitcoin that much.

Are google and apple accepting bitcoin for their another stuffs and services?
PlayStore is belongs to google, and App Store belongs to Apple. and both company are not accepting bitcoin for anything else(If I am right, I didn't heard they are accepting bitcoin) then they don't accept bitcoin just in their app stores.

Playstore will surely accept it in future knowing bitcoin madness are now spreading globally, bitcoins got high market since it has millions of user globally thats why i dont really surprise as many online company keep looking bitcoin to be accepted by them but maybe it will take more years since the flactuation of btc is the biggest block its  way to gather trust by online businessman but well keep looking forward in future to see it.



Yes they have effecient payment but they also got big fees on their processor in every transaction thats why i will not really surprise if they decide to add bitcoin as their processor and surely it will be more convenient for their business.

I do not think that they are going to let Bitcoin be a currency at the Playstore or any other store because they not that many people make use of it.

Well I think if playstore see a potential profit when receiving Bitcoin then they will accept Bitcoin as mode of payment but  the problem is they already have their own payment so the chance of it is very slim.  But there is possibility if and only if, the developer of the application that are sold in there accept bitcoin as payment.  So automatically playstore and appstore need to adjust to cater all the profits from those transaction.

Well, if play Playstore accepting bitcoin, i'm sure both Playstore and bitcoin will got big advantage for their own. Many people will use bitcoin for the payment on play store and bitcoin's price also affected.

Android Pay has been introduced by Google on the last versions of Android (since Lollipop). This is the main reason for which they don't accept paying with Bitcoin, I guess. It's somehow their rival.

However, you can buy Play Store gift cards with Bitcoin and activate them on your account.

As stated above google is trying to create their own ways of payment so it is marely possible i also think that google is not even thinking of accepting bitcoin

actually i have no idea about this. but my personal view is that they will do so. because i think these are private companies there fore it will more easy for them to accept bitcoin for mobile or mobile accessories.

Well, if the play store accept bitcoin, bitcoin prices will probably rise little by little. otherwise it bitcoin users would be facilitated in terms of transactions. I havent heard about it but you are right if play store accepts bitcoin then the popularity of bitcoins will be increase alot there are many many android users all around the world they all will know about bitcoins so it will be great for the popularity of bitcoins.

Yes indeed. though both are on different platform but still its a competition. But still, they can integrate bitcoin on their system or ride on bitcoin popularity.They can also create their own currency.

Why would they care if they can create google pay or service similar to Amazon payments and profit from it. Probably way more that they ever would do with BTC?
Seriously grabbing fee from every transaction - even as small as one or cents will be amazing deal for Google.

I think now is the time that they should have to start work on bitcoin as now bitcoin is going to become the part of our normal financial system and especially those people who do purchases online prefer bitcoin more than any other payment processor.

How do you think google makes money ? No,they can't do that since the end users are the developers who sell their apps on playstore to get paid.How'd google pay their app developers on every purchase if they're aren't willing to accept bitcoins from the user ? If especially google play store accept it would be very beneficial to the bitcoin ecosystem. Price should rise gradually as in the play store if we see the downloads of most top rated apps there more than 100.000 million downloads to these apps. This tells that there are a lot of users there, more than in the app store. Google should start accepting bitcoin in another attempt to bit apple again.

It would be a great thing for Bitcoin if the playstore accepts it as an currency because then Bitcoin will get allot of attention.

if their method is a gateway(what i think it is), they can still accept bitcoin... there's a huge difference in payment method and a currency.

It would be great if the two mobile markets are accepting bitcoin as a mode of payment but it's pretty sure that there would be a problem and issure about it , because in every advantages to some of their services there would be also a disavantages for it . So they should analyze too much and plan for it before it could be accepted and announced to the public .

Should? Well for sure they will have more customers there, for example I never bought anything there, I'm just downloading free things. If they accept bitcoins as payment they will have more customers for sure, and there is big probability for many people to skip to btc from fiat.

That doesn't make any sense to me. It would be better for Apple Pay and Android Pay to expand their services by adding the ability to load bitcoins in your account. By doing that they are giving their customers a choice. I wonder what other avenues can bitcoin get into so that it will have the proper infrastructure for mainstream adoption.

you are right. it would be very good, because then the user knows or has particularly bitcoin will use bitcoin they have in PlayStore, but I also think that this will affect the price of bitcoin, and makes the price of bitcoin be higher, but it takes very many users bitcoin who uses his PlayStore so that it could be positive for the price of bitcoin quickly.

I think playstore / appstore have not sure for consider the payment using bitcoin. many reasons that become background for disapproval payment using bitcoin like abuse bitcoin system or cheat for payment system, etc

How do you think they can abuse the payment using bitcoin..? i think they have no rights to reverse the payments once they already send and receive by playstore before you can download something in their server..

And tell me how exactly can you abuse the Bitcoin system or cheat using Bitcoin as a payment. If you could 'cheat' for money trough Bitcoin or hack into it to get funds, it would either be fixed immediately or Bitcoin would be priceless. I'm not speak about how to hack bitcoin, in the my opinion the option using bitcoin as payment system is still very risk. I still have not know what the reason it.  as example : microsoft accept bitcoin as payment system, what it is for all countries? ;;; usd tether is currency based USD, what does I can register in wallet.tether.to directly with my original IP? (sorry, I'm not USA/UK people)

my question is, why just for certain countries only?
other example, in the last year I can enjoy VPS service from vultr.com using bitcoin as payment system. but now they stop bitcoin payments to people who have just signed up.

I think that it would be great if Playstore and all would start accepting bitcoin for payments.  The issues with this again raises to the fact that most countries do not see bitcoin as a currency.  Because of this, these retailers need to have additional accounting completed for proper taxation.
