I think it would be a great move for them, if they choose to. Since much of the worlds foods are grown in Latin America it would be in their best interest to export foods and ne paid with bitcoins. Not only would that help to spread the use of the btc but also create and grow a much needed industry if btc is to truly take hold.

If people can use bitcoins to buy everything needed to live, e.g. medicine, technology, food and clothing, people will be more inclined to make the switch from local government paper to global electronic currency.

just my 2cents :-)

They will, eventually. People across the region have a hard time receiving and sending money, fees are too high. Paypal only transfers funds locally in a few selected countries.

There's Cuba undergoing blockage, making goods difficult to obtain. Venezuela and Argentina currently have tight exchange controls, so people there face limitations trading with other countries.

I don't think so,
The bitcoin is way too volatile to really transfer your money to

the bitcoin needs stabilize and become a mature coin in order be adopted by developing countries.
that will happen only after the western world will adopt it.

I wouldn't recommend anyone in Cyprus, Argentina and ect... to transfer their savings to bitcoin, as well as any western investor. Only as a small portion of a well diversified portfolio

Bitcoin offers a very cheap alternative to classic money transfers. If currency conversion functions smoothly and Bitcoin replaces classic money transfers or reduces their prices drastically, this would be very beneficial to poorer people.
