Maybe not much of a paradox. Liberty, equality and fraternity for some of your own people, not all, and leading the way in destroying other countries like in libya leads to blowback.

What is interesting is the traditional media is obviously starting to lose its grip on the narrative. The comments section is the most telling part.
After deleting a majority 6 of 13 comments the moderators just gave up and shut comments down entirely.

Hollande will have to cancel his talks about Palestine and Russia after this. Was that a message to warn that?

It was a co-ordinated attack - one in Nice then an attempt on the Eiffel Tower just to make a point to French officials that they mean business. I would not like to be living in France or near them (even in Belgium) right now. The attacker is the one at fault for what he did. But people can't ignore the consequences of the actions of their governments. And not only recent actions related to isis or in libya for example.
