Title: facebook approach to increase btc value
Post by: BobPanda on June 12, 2011, 04:38:21 AM
what do you think about this approach?

.
i think this is a good idea, as it could become a good signal to "outsiders", providing an idea of what might be possible.

I'm sceptical that it will work, but I'd love to see $100/BTC.

same for me ...  ;) - so i'll join.
let's assume 10k or 100k people join. imho that would be quite good propaganda, wouldn't it?

Being a FB marketer, I can tell you that setting up an event is not the way to do it.  Your best bet would be to setup a fanpage with a application tab with some interactive stuff for people to like the fanpage and invite friends to it.

This is an excellent idea.  Set up an info and fan page on facebook to educate the masses and get people and businesses using bitcoin.

We need more businesses accepting bitcoin first though.  What about a facebook page and campaign to do just that first?

I think it will help peole discover BTC, but if it succeeds I would expect a crash afterward. Doesn't this put artificial demand into the system?

that sounds like a valid argument. i'm not that familiar with FB. may i take your comment and post it to the event/user as a proposal?

no problem, if you have any questions let me know.  I've been a application developer and using facebook to make a living for the past couple years.

As of this post, I don't see the FB community having much impact. The best thing you can do on FB is just post articles on bitcoin to your wall so all your uninititated friends become aware of the concept. FB fan pages and events are just preaching to the choir. This is a good link to post to start with: http://themonetaryfuture.blogspot.com/2011/06/bitcoin-is-economic-singularity.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+TheMonetaryFuture+%28The+Monetary+Future%29&utm_content=My+Yahoo

+1  absolutly. having an event would be ok but not what we need right now.

personal i think FB is the devil and all should be wherry of it, but the exposure would make me more money  :D
