Title: BTCJam Hedge Loan
Post by: LoweryCBS on March 20, 2013, 08:15:40 PM
https://btcjam.com/listings/2638 (https://btcjam.com/listings/2638)

As explained in the listing, funds will be used to hedge some illiquid BTC positions to offset exposure until those trades are closed.

(Essentially, I'm offering to pay 5%/month to short USD)

If this process functions as planned I'll offer more listings in this series, with some pegged to MtGoxUSD and others denominated in BTC as needed.

Interesting... sad i dont like BTCJam...

Maybe you post some links to some threads for reputation because me (and maybe the rest too) only know your name out of this loan section.

I'm usually a lender, not a borrower, so rep is just that. You and I have had this discussion via PM before, remember? I put you in contact with a (confidential) seller of many thousand$ of BTC for CitM that vouched for me. Any additional vouches will come from folks that owe me, rather than anyone I've paid back.

I've got several times this amount in MPOE bonds, for example. I could GPG sign with the private key for the funding addresses of those notes. But this is merely an experiment in hedging and arbitrage.

For you, Eisenhower, I'd send you my dox (but I do understand that you're not a fan of BTCJam).

Yeah found it in my messagebox, and regarding BTCJam, sorry neither do I like MPOE.
Any loans from reputational borrowers you could kick in as collateral?

I can vouch for LoweryCBS - I have done many thousands (tens of thousands) of dollars worth of trades in both BTC and otherwise.
He is also an investor in my business and if it helps your decision he could use one of my notes as collateral - however I know he will not default so this will not be necessary. Just saying it is OK with me.

LoweryCBS is the person I'd trust the most in the lending section.

I can insure repayments for 1% - PM if interested.

Then I can offer 1000 EUR @ 6% interest (1% extra for the insurance with TradeFortress) via MtGoxEur (MtGoxEur because Mtgox will soon stop their MtGoxUSD redeemable codes, so I guess MtGoxEUR codes will still work?)

As far as I am aware Eisenhower it will work for us because we are European - but I think Americans will no longer have access to any currency on mtgox - at least that is how I read it I may be wrong

Mt Gox EUR codes should still work. Also one thing I should add is if the insurance on 1050 EUR is paid out, then the debt will belong to me (ie you can't get 2100 EUR if LoweryCBS pays back later).

That's an interesting offer (and in the future it might be handy for some operations I'm considering that are actually EUR based) but for this experiment I'd rather have the capital to simply move back and forth between BTC and USD to balance and hedge. As I'm US based, I'm also not sure exactly what the MtGox-US thing is going to mean for me (and my books)

(thank you TradeFortress and Projects for the vouches)

I like the way you approach business, Eisenhower34 - we'll be working together on some things eventually.

For now, I'll let the BTCJam loan be the method for this project. If it fails to fund, I'll reevaluate.

While I haven't really worked through #Bitcoin-OTC in the past, I've registered with WOT and asked those who've done business with me in the past to leave feedback:

As more ratings come in, it should become obvious that my listings are a good investment  :)
