Title: BlackBerry BB10!
Post by: Andreas Schildbach on March 20, 2013, 10:08:25 PM
Bitcoin Wallet is now available for BlackBerry BB10! It's a bit of an outdated version (because of the lengthy review process), but I'll take care of that soon.

My experience is once your app is in BlackBerry World the updates should be approved much faster after that first one. I hope that is the case for you too, this looks like a great project.

Yeah, I guess we'll find out soon. When 3.0 is released, I'll roll an update for BlackBerry.

I have updated the BlackBerry version to 3.08 last week, you can download the latest version here:

http://code.google.com/p/bitcoin-wallet/downloads/list

Due to a bug in the BlackBerry AppWorld crappy admin interface, I cannot upload the update to AppWorld for now.

Changes:

3.08

* bugfixes

3.07

* make request and send coins action buttons more visible
* stay connected a little bit longer if there was transaction activity on the wallet

3.06

* merge peer monitor and block explorer into network monitor
* Hebrew translation

3.05

* backup reminder for first-time users

3.01-3.04

* some small improvements and bugfixes

Hi, just wanted to say thanks for bringing this wallet to Blackberry 10. We don't have many bitcoin apps at all and I think yours is the only wallet. Wondering if you are still working on upgrading it?

Thanks! Yes, I'm committed to updating it. I just don't update each version, as the update process for BlackBerry apps is extremely inconvenient.

That's great! I'll be checking for updates, sorry to hear it's so inconvenient. Was also wondering what you think of malware and stuff on BB 10? I get the idea it might be less prevalent than Android (targeted for bitcoin at least) just because less people use it.

Since BB10 and their Android runtime is closed source, I actually think it's less secure than Android AOSP. On the other hand, yes, BB10 only has got a tiny fraction of market share.

A BB10 version with the Enjoy/Sochi 1 satoshi spam fix would be much appreciated!  I don't think the current version allows spending when there are unconfirmed transactions in the wallet.

Edit: For anyone else who's wondering, I just checked Blackberry World and it's already out there as of yesterday (March 2, 2014).

Thanks Andreas!

This looks like a great project. Time will show us what will happen with it in near future

Nothing terrible that it's a bit of an outdated version. Thanks!

Now that BB10 v10.2.1 can install an Android .apk directly, has anyone tried doing that yet with the Android version?
