Basically what it boils down to is that I have everything but the Powerpoint pretty much ready to go and this is a chance to "sell" cryptocurrencies to the Mars crowd. Advice would be appreciated. Remember, I'll have to make this about the Martian economy.

Wow.  Good job and good luck with that, man.

Unfortunately I've got no good advises but I've read (just now) that you could send bitcoin from mars to earth (and vice versa) in less than an hour.  But mining from mars would be hard (impossible?) because of the time it takes for the blocks to be broadcasted back to earth.  Source: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Bitcoin_in_the_far_future

First of all I want to congratulate you. They picked your presentation! And as you said, it is an amazing opportunity to sell cryptocurrency to Martian Society.
I know, that at this point it is pure fiction and we won't have anything like 'martian economy' to worry about during our life time.

But honestly now that you bring that topic up I don't think that anything beside cryptocurrency is good enough to power future martian economic ecosystem.
What is the key here is block chain which is trustless system which eliminates every potential 3rd party from the picture.
Also the fact that cryptocurrencies can't be counterfeited in any way (if the system is backed by enough hash power and it is solid, that is).

This is true, but not unbeatable. Currently Bitcoin is being broadcast on radio waves. Transferring it to the new tech of encoding data on waves of light, which is entirely possible with current technology, is probably the most feasible solution that is actually possible today

The current level of tech for encoded data transmission between celestial objects would have (with no interference) between a 2.5 and 21 minute transmission time, Earth <-> Mars, depending on the location of both planets. This is, of course, not taking into account objects like the Sun being between us
