Title: [SCAM] labsnovo.com claims to have ASICs ("84 Ghash/s for $1400")
Post by: mrb on March 21, 2013, 08:46:16 AM
An anonymous poster, "funmin", wrote a comment on my blog (http://blog.zorinaq.com/?e=69#funmin-1303200533) promoting a company claiming to have Bitcoin mining ASICs (see below).
THIS IS AN OBVIOUS SCAM - DO NOT SEND ANY PAYMENT TO "LABSNOVO.COM"

His post was:
Quote
i think personaly that bfl is a big scam. i ordered and received from http://www.labsnovo.com

not 20 as they advertise but ~ 18gh/s stable…. very good…
and they told me they are working a new firmware that will stable the speed on 20-22 gh/s……..

Thanks novo labs

"funmin" made about 80 HTTP requests to my blog, between March 17 and March 20, using different IP addresses (mostly ukranian 46.118.0.0/15 and 178.137.0.0/16), to attempt to obfuscate which exact HTTP request submitted the comment, in order to obfuscate which IP he was browsing my blog from. But he forgot that the timestamp allows me to pinpoint exactly who he was: his post was submitted from the IP address 213.16.166.52 on 20/Mar/2013:05:33:31 -0700 using the following user-agent: "Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 8.0; Windows NT 6.1; Trident/4.0; SLCC2; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; .NET CLR 3.5.30729; .NET CLR 3.0.30729; Media Center PC 6.0)".

Perhaps this information can be helpful to track the perpetrator of this labsnovo scam...

what make you think that s a scam?

Everything involving ASIC miners should be considered a scam until there is courtroom-quality proof otherwise :P

Knowing this, I'm pretty sure the admins here could point out his account if he has one, but I guess that wouldn't be ethical. At the very least, the admins know who he is.

BFL: Josh, I need you to tell the minions the following bad news. How fast can you encrypt this?
Josh: High speed, as always.
BFL: And don't ever forget that that's why you're here.

Now, that all the proof is out proven they're a scam, it's time for somebody from this community to test the waters and order in 5...4...3... It worked so well last time, perhaps the same user will step forward to try his luck again.

Greetings,

Thank you for your email. At this stage we are only preparing and testing our devices.
We give our best to deliver on time. If you want to order after you complete the payment ( MtGox) you will be redirected to the check out page to complete your details for shipping. (We ship with DHL, the price is included in the price ).
Note that the ~84 Gh/s we have seen that has an over - temprature and will be stable at ~78. We work on that to solve it but works perfect at that speed.
More photos and videos will be posted after we complete 1st batch.

Best Regards,
Customer Service - Elias

Yep I've asked for more photos and videos but they say nothing will come until after batch 1. So never.
