Title: Bitcoin-QT wallet out of sync Post by: eshroom on March 21, 2013, 11:51:50 PM I did try google, so apologies if this is very simple.
I transfered some coins to my Bitcoin-QT wallet this morning, now (12 hours later) I open my laptop and there is nothing received. Must I wait for my wallet to sync before they appear? Thanks Title: Re: Bitcoin-QT wallet out of sync Post by: Smt923 on March 21, 2013, 11:56:52 PM Yeah, syncing means it's downloading the entire blockchain, it'll take some time if you've never done it before but when it's done you'll see your correct balance there, just leave it running a day or two (assuming first time) and it should be done after that.

If it's too long for you in future get a lightwieght client like electrum that uses a server that does all the blockchain stuff, electrum is also encrypted and you can restore your wallet from seed. I personally just use QT to help the network however, it does seem to take a lot of space on my ssd. |
