Title: [WTB] [Old] Radeon 5970's and 5870
Post by: ssateneth on March 23, 2013, 04:53:44 AM
Looking to buy 2 5970's and 1 5870. Preferably reference, but might take non-reference. Also preferably game-ready; no artifacts or malfunctions. Accessories and original box is a plus. Post what you have and prices here in thread. Can pay with Paypal, Dwolla, Serve, Chase Quickpay if you have a chase account, or Popmoney, maybe others. Can also reluctantly pay with bitcoins if it's 100% necessary.

Edit: Old thread, and cluttered with a deal that fell through. Making a new thread.

I can offer you one 5870 and two 5970 GPU cards. All are reference cards. I have no accessories or original boxes. One of the 5970 cards has an aftermarket Arctic Cooling fan on it. I know they mine; as for gaming, I have no clue because I've never played any games with these cards.

I'm asking $120 for the 5870 and $250 for each of the 5970 cards. I'll pay for shipping. I highly prefer payment in bitcoins and would want to do escrow. If you're interested or have any questions, PM me. Thanks!

Is it at all possible to see if they artifact or have problems? Like running 3dmark, or OCCT:3D:GPU in error checking mode? If they arent operating game-ready, it's going to significantly cut down on their value, because they won't be able to do what they are designed to do, and only be good for a very niche market.

My 5870 card is at my office so I can't run any benchmarks on that one quite yet. The 5970 cards I have in a single machine. I've never heard of OCCT but I downloaded it and ran the test you asked. It dumped out 17 image files so I linked them for your review. Let me know if you have any further questions.

The only thing I really need to know is if you run it in error checking mode for a while (say 15 minutes) in full screen mode so crossfire kicks in, see if it kicks out any errors in the error counter. I appreciate the pictures though, but not what I need.

go to the GPU:3D tab, test type infinite, directx 11, set the resolution to your monitor's native resolution, full screen, error check, shader complexity to 7, and fps limit to something really high like 6000.

Let it run for like 15-20 minutes. If you get no errors, its very likely they are game-ready and I will pay the price you want. I am interested in both 5970 as well as the 5870.

Best buy does not sell these cards. They are too high performance (too niche), and they are about 4 years old.

Well obviously its running without crashing, and you are probably watching the screen and not noticing any artifacts (if you did, you'd tell me, right?)

Anyways, let me work on those coins. I'm a miner, and they come in slow these days, but I got about 15 ghash at my disposal so they aren't that slow to come in. Looks like about 8 coins and some change. I've currently got 4.85 in my wallet, so let me work on that for a bit. Might buy some from an OTC member to cover the rest and negotiate a final BTC amount.

Since I've had a terrible cold, I haven't been to go to the office to retrieve and test the 5870. So how about we deal with the two 5970 cards first? That way, you won't need to generate as many bitcoins. Like I originally proposed, let's hook it up with escrow. That way, if for some magical reason, artifacts start showing up the day you receive the cards, we can reverse the transaction and nobody has to have any hurt feelings.

As I would like payment in bitcoin, how about a price of 7.05 BTC?

I would be more comfortable in the area of 6.xx BTC with exact amount to be worked out at the time of right before mailing because bitcoin rates are still very volatile. We will easily see 80 by the end of the week, probably even higher. Bitcoin went up $5 in the last 24 hours even.

I've got very numerous ratings in #bitcoin-otc, my ebay is OTC-verified, and I am photo-verified with state-issued ID as well.

If you accept moneypaks, I can pay with a moneypak as well.

I will only accept payment in bitcoins coupled with an escrow service I trust like TangibleCryptography. I will even cover the cost of escrow services.

I can ship the two cards anytime. If you want to wait until you have sufficient bitcoins before giving me a counteroffer, that's totally fine. If you already have sufficient bitcoins, feel free to give me a counteroffer.

Was able to scrounge up 2 more BTC, bringing my wallet to 6.xx. Still need about 1.xx more for the 5870.

Also escrow is fine. Would 7.75 BTC shipped to 54501 be acceptable?

7.75 BTC shipped is acceptable. I'll start boxing up the two 5970 video cards and open escrow with TangibleCryptography. In the meantime, send me a PM with the address you would like me to ship to.

ssateneth, my assumption is that your offer of 7.75 BTC is for all 3 video cards, namely, the 5870 and the two 5970s. This is correct, right? I haven't yet tested the 5870 nor pulled the card out for testing like I've done for the 5970s. Does your offer still stand?

I just want to remove any ambiguity in negotiation. That's all.

The 7.75 was for all three video cards.

Edit: With continuing rising prices on bitcoin scraping against $82, I retract my previous offer and offer 7.5BTC now for all 3 cards.

This would be so much easier if I could pay with fiat...

edit: BTC way to volatile to give a decent offer. At the time of writing this if I had to offer BTC (which I'd rather not offer ahead of time) I'm down to offering 7.25, but I would still feel much more comfortable negotiating a BTC amount at the exact time of trading.

I am looking for an escrow service that will handle payment in USD. Are you willing to offer payment in dwolla?

Title: Re: [WTB] Radeon 5970's and 5870
Post by: ssateneth on March 27, 2013, 06:27:13 AM
Much more willing than paying with BTC :)

It will take me the standard 2-3 waiting period to fund my dwolla, because dwolla relies on ACH transfers which takes 2-3 days to clear.

Edit: Edited above post concerning BTC offer if BTC is necessary. I would still rather offer -slightly- under $620 worth of BTC at the time of exchanging hands because of constantly increasing price.

I've been too sick to go to my office to retrieve the 5870. So let's just negotiate on the two 5970s. I can't find an escrow service that will deal with dwolla, so let's stick to bitcoins. How about we agree to a price of 5.555 BTC?

Once we can agree upon a price, I will ask the escrow service to provide you a bitcoin address. Once you have deposited payment to the escrow service, I will ship the video cards to you on the same day, provided the post office hasn't yet closed. I'm located in northern CA so I'm a couple hours behind you. You will have three days from receipt of items to inspect. In the event of a dispute, the escrow service will arbitrate the issue and render a judgement we will abide with.

Here are a couple pics of the video cards.

Bitcoin continuing to rise, likely hitting $100 today or friday.

5.555 too rich for my blood. 5.0 is my offer for the two 5970.
