Title: Does anyone point their miners at nicehash PPS?
Post by: gt_addict on July 27, 2016, 09:48:27 PM
Hi everyone,

Just wondering if anyone sells there hash to nicehash. If so what are your payouts like? Do they pay regularly?

Is it anymore profitable than on a smaller pool?

The reason I ask is because I only have 2Th so want to maximise if I can.

Its going to be more stable pay but a rash of good luck on a pool would pay more.

So im balancing my hashrate between two pools bitminter & nicehash pps. Bitminter has no issues as usual but the rejected shares on nicehash are 50%. Can anyone explain why?

What type of hardware are you using?

Any PPS is now 'expected' to pay less than pretty much any pool that pays PPLNS and txn fees.

Due to the latest halving and txn fees, 100% PPS is worse than a good PPLNS pool including txn fees.

But any pool paying PPS in the past has not paid 100% PPS ... ... ... but rather a high fee to reduce it well below 100% PPS

It should pay fairly well regularly and possibly more than the average pool.
If a pool has luck though, it may be more profitable to use that.
You can check the markets on their page and notice the stability or instability of their prices.

PPS is unaffected by luck or block txn fees.
You only receive the low PPS payout minus fees.

I'm only using an S7LN doing about 2.4th so not much as I'm only a home miner.

Not sure why.  Does it throw that at any other pool?  I do not remember my stuff ever doing that back when i was still figuring out mining.  If they are redirecting your miner to rent I know it can throw some crazy.

That's what I don't understand ive never had this kind of rejection rate before. Even the other two pools on my settings are showing minimal rejection rate, nothing above normal. Just the nicehash server. I did get one reply from them saying to add #xnsub to the end of the stratum details but this had no effect. Currently 5600 accepted 2800 rejected. other two pools are showing 5600 accepted each and 36 rejected between both of them.

Yeah 2800 rejected seems really high.
All the settings on all the machines are the same as the ones getting 36 rejected?
What pools are those other miners pointing at?

Its one machine. S7LN. I putty'd into it and changed the cgminer pool management settings. The other two pools in the settings are behaving as normal, exactly the same way as they have done when I mined on them on their own. Its only the nicehash server (sha256.eu.nicehash.com:3334#xnsub) that's the issue.

I have tried the above url without the #xnsub (which was suggested by the support email) and I get the same result.

Who knows what nicehash is redirecting your miners to mine.  That could be what it is.

Well after trying various options like switching to the USA server it seems that its pretty simple. Nicehash doesn't like it when your miner is set to "pool balance" it ran fine for 15mins with no rejects when it was set to "failover" as default, but as soon as I putty'd in and changed it to "balance" the rejects started to rise, but just for the nicehash server. Still cant explain why that would be though but I assume its as Laviathon has said.

Nicehash mines other coins when you point your miner at them. You can't mine two coins concurrently (which happens when you load balance in cgminer and mine bullshit coins at nicehash but bitcoin on anther pool); you have to hard switch from one coin to another.

Thank you -ck. That explains it. For some reason it seems to have slowed somewhat now ive changed the arranegemtn of the pools in the list on the Ant gui. Ill check again in the morning and see what the stats are doing.

Needless to say I think its taking the piss that you point your miner to the sha256 server and end up getting loads of problems because they are trying to mine some other coin.

Mining with NiceHash PPS can be profitable when the order rates are high.

Otherwise it's better to stick with a trusted pool as suggested above.
