Hi Everyone,

Based on my investigation on the sample email accounts that some of you have provided, there is a clear indication of hacking/hijacking activity on the accounts. I strongly recommend that you change your password at once. Please refer to the article below for more information.

My Hotmail account has been hacked

I would like to send my appreciation to all the members who recommended solutions and provided information to resolve this issue.

Change password, use 2FA, reformat your probably-rooted computer...

Hiya,
what does rooted computer mean?

Thanks
squall1066
Means a keylogger/trojan infested computer, where anything you type on it and your wallets are open for the taking. A hack of emails usually means such a case, although it might mean that you're reusing passwords or using weak passwords. Get a 2FA device now.

Just a quick note:
I change my passwords regular,
but as another precaution, anyone with my email address please don't make any contact with me through it, I will be setting up a new one.
Thanks everyone for your advice.
Regards,
Squall1066

Start using PGP for sensitive transactions too. That's harder to compromise.

OK, thanks john and TF,  I am doing a re-stream after a full format now, using another computer ATM,

Is there a way to stop this again? Something better than gmail?

Also reading up on "rootkit" virus, I learned it can be placed in mobo bios?

Is this correct? how do I know if this has happned?

I found this article, as there was no link, this wasn't a hotmail account, So one thought springs to mind,
This code sends the same code to everyone in your mailbox, So could not have been directed at me, But passed on to me?

Anyone who is in contact with me via e-mail sould check to see if they are infected.

If you're using gmail, please take notice that it's one of the better free offerings for webmail both security and feature wise. Just enable GAuth, or the SMS 2FA to be 99% safe even your password is compromised. I cannot stress this part enough.

Dont know, I never mess with BIOS, I just read that it's possible to kernell dump a rootkit in the bios?

on a side note, I just 2FA'd my e-mail, Anyway of doing that here? Or a trusted 3rd party software that will do this to anything I set it up for? I don't mind a small fee for this, Its much safer.

The forum does not have any 2FA auth in place, although I would like to see it too. For the time being, only PGP can confirm my identity in a more secure way.

OK thanks john, I got a little jumpy as I have all ready scared a few people who owe me, I have spend the day buffing up on my security skills, I have some more things in place, I should be ok here as my interaction level has dropped somewhat, And I have said a few times not to lend this account (or any other claiming to be me) any money, And there it was again LOL  ::)

I till cant find out if an I.P address can be obtained from that e-mail? Not that it matters now as I am moving shortly and going under TOR.

Yes, I am a little over cautious when it comes to security, I never seen that type of e-mail before so I did not know what it did.
