Title: One book per day
Post by: Sunwew on July 28, 2016, 10:53:42 AM
Warren Buffett said reading a book per day will make us rich. I can read all day but which books should I read?

Statements like that are complete nonsense if you ask me.
Tai Lopez is saying the same but I doubt it will make you financially rich.
Sure reading increases your knowledge and expands your horizon, however money will not automatically flock in because of that.
Read whatever you are interested in.If you wanna make money read about finance, economy, entrepreneurship, business ideas and creativity. That might help you to find your own personal way for success.

Warren Buffett said reading a book per day will make us rich. I can read all day but which books should I read?

reading books will never make you rich (maybe he meant mentally rich). but instead it puts you on a correct path of getting rich. and also makes the authors rich.

besides in order to get rich you have to have money, a job, a business, and a lot of experience all of which you can never gain from a book.

You can read a book for 6-7 hours. 8 hours for sleep. 24-(7+8)= 9 hours for you to get rich.

The book of life is the best learning curve, and when knowledgeable enough you can always say this.

"Hey I have been around the world, not around the corner"

Its good to be rich in experience.

People listen to warren buffet and take him too literal all the time. Most people who have gotten rich have gotten their through a mixture of hard work and luck. Some people can work hard to get rich their whole life but just never be in the right place at the right time or know the right people to get rich. These people unfortunately just dont have the luck. Other people manage to get rich through luck alone, You will meet in your lifetime loads of people who have lots of money but are idiots and cant do anything. I can tell you that reading a book everyday isnt going to make you rich though.

It's like an old saying - "an apple a day keeps doctors away". It doesn't in fact. :-\
Boks can give some knowledge, but no experience or commitment and no luck, which are also needed to succeed in any business. So, according to my formula, knowledge (books) = 33.33% of success.

Used to follow a guy that claimed to read a book a day and was one of the spin offs of Tonny Robbins. Listening to his synopsis of the books showed me he was missing most of the context of the books. It reflected in his mindset that he was also looking for the easy way to be rich.
One tip I can pass on is about self help, psychology books,is the first 30 pages are usually them selling you on their credentials and you can skim that to get to the meat. Most these style of books have 3 driving points that they repeat over and over in different wording.

I would not recommend skimming through a book to read as many books as possible, enjoy the book or move on.

Probably everyone who picks up a book, can immediately determine whether to read it or not. Perhaps many publications today are not even worthy of attention.

Don't look at books in the classical definition of such. There is  wealth of knowledge available and easily accessible. You can try novels, or even go to wikipedia random, read what comes up, if it's of your interest click on related articles. Amazon has almost every classic novel available at no charge, so read them on Kindle.

Just go to a library and read what comes to mind.

Dare some one to try a book a day by reading Dostoevsky books for a week.

It's true. Now people are lazy and want everything for nothing. Sitting at the computer, reading a book and read by millions. The real money is made in the factories and in the fields.

Obviously, it is books about money and making money if you seek wealth.

But if it doesn't work, you might need books about your own psychology in addition.

There was some distant time in the past when I was reading books but now I seek everything online because it is faster.
One book per day is understatement, I go through much more than one book daily.
But, the reading experience is quite different, I agree.

Sun Tzu's "Art of War"
Dale Carnegie's "How to Win Friends and Influence People"
Steve Gates' "The Negotiation Book"

Start with these; spare some time to really digest the contents.  Better to spend a few hours each day on the books than rush and miss context.

Intersperse with fiction and sci-fi like Isaac Asimov and Stephen King.  They can help you begin to think on advanced theories like human reactions under fear, AI ethics and string/chaos theory

It's a nonsense claim. But it is true that focusing your time on things that can benefit your life could be very beneficial, and even bring you money. The key word is could. Something really wasteful is binge watching television, rather than studying up on let say programming if you're into computers.

When I was a child I got quite a lot of DC Comics most from 1958-1960, at the time, all of the well read, then traded in for other second hand comics.
If I only knew that to keep hold of them, might have made me a tidy sum of money now.

I once collected German medical books from the late 1700s  about twenty I had, all destroyed in a house fire.
Money up in smoke as well as my home.

You do not have the book with me to wear, and you can download the printed version and do not need the audio, if it really wants or likes to read. Just now, all people are moving with the times and therefore use the new technology to the old requirements.

Wonder if Buffet's ever read a book a day. You'd have to have a really free life to do that. Even then, it definitely won't earn you money. There's some books that help - but the vast majority of money comes from actually putting things into practise and learning as you go.

One book per day is too much for me. I would like to say one book per week for myself.

It's just a figure of speech. In general, the book is necessary to read, they can find very interesting. But it's hard sometimes to force myself to do it

Well, by my side I think that reading is an excellent hobbie but one book per day is just too much, because I believe that every book has its own time and if you read it all by once probably you will not feel the things that the author want you to feel.

Now a lot of tabloid books and they only clog the minds of readers. Good books are very large and they are read not a few days or even weeks.

Warren Buffett said reading a book per day will make us rich. I can read all day but which books should I read?
There are many kind of books which you can read all day. Which genres do you want to read ? I love novel and Fantasy books so i suggest you should read To kill the mockingbird or The hunger games series. I highly recommend these book because they are my favorite. They are priceless to me.

Recently, I do not read anything except newspapers. This habit has remained previous years. At the time reading books do not, and to read, tell the truth a little bit lazy. But the last book I read is Frank Herbert's Dune.

Once, after reading the book The Master and Margarita was nothing I almost did not understand, because it is very heavy. It's like writing a book addict.

I did not really want to read what the book, but if the author is a good example Picture of Dorian Gray, Oscar Wilde, the interest may wake up during the reading.

One book a day, it is of course very much. I used to read a tabloid books. Novels or detectives simply on the move in the subway. But the time has come and changed the rhythm of life. I even at the time I can not find audio books. It is necessary not only to listen to the book, but also hear what they read.
