Title: Tapatalk/mobile compatability for the forum
Post by: gbh on March 23, 2013, 11:09:11 AM
Any chance of getting the Tapatalk plug in installed for the forum?

Ready to go for Simple Machines:
http://www.tapatalk.com/activate_tapatalk.php?plugin=smf
Would be awesome for mobile browsing/responding to forum posts.

Check out http://bitcointalkmobile.appspot.com (http://bitcointalkmobile.appspot.com) from your tablet or mobile, it's something I'm working on at the moment. If nobody is using it then it takes ages to load the first time then it's fast after that.

Please no tapatalk. It annoys people who browse on their mobile devices and also makes the SSL pointless.

It's built for people using mobile devices?
How does it annoy?

I've never used it, but it may be related to the subject of this comic:

Firstly, not everyone wants to use or install a proprietary system.

Tapatalk annoys users by prompting with an alert (instead of the recommended way to do it, a smart banner). Forums with tapatalk becomes a walking billboard for their software, and while it does benefits people who use tapatalk, it presents a negative user experience for other users.

I wouldn't mind tapatalk if it stored "no thanks", but it asks you every session.

Bear in mind that any forum owner with a little bit of programming know-how could easily disable those notifications for users...

Don't get tapatalk, ever. On the XenForo version there are so many security issues...

Most XenForo forum owners have removed it (then again, xf does have a responsive style now).

You just need to make the style responsive for devices with smaller widths. The desktop site is perfect on my Nexus 7 ;)
