Yeah, definitely when you know it's going POS. So for those buying (if it's real), another awesome heater for the winter :p Good luck though! Title: Re: pretty cool Post by: Amph on July 29, 2016, 03:17:51 PM 800w? pointless a rig with 480 can do much better than that at the same speed
Title: Re: pretty cool Post by: ldw-com on July 29, 2016, 03:21:06 PM 800w? pointless a rig with 480 can do much better than that at the same speed And probably cheaper as well :p Title: Re: pretty cool Post by: Prelude on July 29, 2016, 03:24:41 PM Bullshit, that's not an ethereum ASIC.
Title: Re: pretty cool Post by: ps_jb on July 29, 2016, 03:27:49 PM And probably cheaper as well :p And you can sell RX 480 for 75% of their price Title: Re: pretty cool Post by: MarkAz on July 29, 2016, 04:05:47 PM Does it look cool? Sure... Is the power consumption good? Absolutely. But all of this is irrelevant unless the price makes it attractive. If it's $5k, who cares, you'll sell a couple to people with more money than brains... If it's in the $1-2k range, then it's interesting... If it's more, then the gamble is much higher especially considering PoS and that you have more than likely a boat anchor at that point. If GPU mining becomes unprofitable, I can sell my cards to gamers - whereas this one doesn't give me THAT much better performance, and has zero secondary market beyond mining.
Title: Re: pretty cool Post by: philipma1957 on July 29, 2016, 08:46:49 PM If it is real it defeats the purpose of eth coins. And it will kill off the game. 800 watts and 200 mh is better then rx 480 as they are 590 watts and 100 mh. But if I made them. I would not sell them I would mine. Thanks for the heads up . I will stop adding to my small farm. Title: Re: pretty cool Post by: Amph on July 30, 2016, 05:52:24 AM 590w for 100MH seems bad, i know that the 1070 on linux can do 900w 200MH
in any case i would never buy an asic even if it was more convenient than gpu this because its resale value is a joke, you will end up with a useless ornament...certainly good for accumulating dust |
