Title: [2016-08-04]Hacked bitcoin exchange says it will spread losses among users Post by: emblem2nd on August 05, 2016, 08:31:19 PM After suffering a crippling hack earlier this week, Hong Kong-based bitcoin exchange Bitfinex said it may spread the loss among its users, including ones not directly impacted by the hack.
"We are leaning towards a socialised loss scenario among bitcoin balances and active loans to BTCUSD positions," the exchange wrote in a blog post Friday. too bad what happened to bitfinex and ofc for the price but spreading the losses among users even the one that isn't affected by the hack needs more explanation! Bitfinex is liable, not their customers. Don't leave BTC on an exchange!
How many more times does this need to happen before people learn their lesson? Customers are always the one paying for the mistakes of the company in question. Same with banks, they mess up, and the customers pay for their mess. People will never learn. They will continue with using exchanges as long term wallet storage. |
